Motul Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana 2026 – MotoGP Season Finale at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo

From November 27 to 29, 2026, the MotoGP World Championship concludes its 22nd and final round of the season at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Cheste, Valencia. The Motul Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana has been a fixture on the MotoGP calendar since 1999 and has established itself as the traditional season finale, where world championships are regularly decided. With over 120,000 spectator capacity, Mediterranean late-autumn ambience, and one of the most compact circuits on the calendar, Valencia delivers an emotionally charged season ending year after year.

Circuit and Challenge

The Circuit Ricardo Tormo was opened in 1999, designed by architect Andrés Llopis, and named after Valencian motorcycle racer Ricardo Tormo (1952–1998), who won the 50cc World Championship twice. The 4.005 km circuit features 14 corners – nine left-handers and five right-handers – plus an 876-metre main straight. The unique stadium-style architecture allows spectators to overlook virtually the entire circuit from the grandstands – a distinctive feature that sets Valencia apart from all other MotoGP venues. The compact layout with several tight hairpins and fast direction changes makes overtaking challenging and produces close battles right down to the final lap.

History and Records

Since its debut in 1999, the Valencia Grand Prix has witnessed numerous historic moments. Valencia has been the stage for dramatic championship deciders on multiple occasions – titles won and lost. Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, and Marc Márquez have scored some of their most memorable victories at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo. In recent years, Ducati has dominated with several consecutive wins. Beyond the season finale, the circuit traditionally serves as the venue for the official MotoGP post-season tests, where teams first put their rider line-ups for the coming season on track.

Valencia as a Travel Destination

The Spanish Mediterranean metropolis of Valencia combines world heritage with modern architecture. The Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias by Santiago Calatrava, the historic old town with the Silk Exchange (La Lonja de la Seda, UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the vibrant food scene around the Mercado Central make Valencia one of Spain’s most attractive travel destinations. The Circuit Ricardo Tormo is located just 20 km west of the city centre and is accessible via the A-3 motorway or by public transport (MetroValencia, Line 1 towards Bétera, change at Empalme). Valencia Airport (VLC) is approximately 30 minutes away. The mild November climate with temperatures around 15–18°C provides pleasant conditions for the race weekend.
