Two phases: temporary solution and permanent repair
As there are not enough refurbished switch units available, the recall will be carried out in two phases. In the first phase, a temporary repair will be carried out to ensure safety in the short term. The refurbished components are expected to be available from January 2026 and will be installed during a second visit to the workshop.
This means that two visits to the workshop are possible – first for a temporary solution, then later for a permanent replacement.
Cause: Plug connection may corrode
According to Honda, the problem is caused by mechanical stress on the plug connection between the left switch unit and the wiring harness. Tensile or compressive forces on the wiring harness can damage the oxide protective layer on the connectors. This can lead to corrosion at the contact points.
The result: The horn switch may fail and the high beam switch may not work. Models with dual clutch transmission (DCT) are also affected by the recall.
Scope of the measure and costs for owners
The recall affects all CRF1100L Africa Twin models built between 2020 and 2025, regardless of equipment or transmission type. The recall is free of charge for owners. Precise information on the time required for the individual workshop appointments is not currently available.

Authorized Honda dealers were informed of the recall at the beginning of September 2025. Owners of affected vehicles should be contacted in the near future. Alternatively, if you are unsure, it is advisable to actively check with your dealer to see if your vehicle is affected.
