Dominance and records: Ryan and Callum Crowe win first sidecar race at the TT 2025

The Manx brothers Ryan and Callum Crowe have impressively claimed their third victory in this year’s Tourist Trophy (TT) on the Isle of Man.  In the first 3wheeling.media Sidecar TT Race, they dominated the field on their Opul/Kelproperties LCR Honda, setting a new lap record with an average speed of 194.77 km/h (121.021 mph) and winning by a margin of 1 minute and 17 seconds.

Record run by the Crowe brothers

In ideal conditions on the 60.72 km Mountain Course, the race, originally scheduled for three laps, was shortened to two.  The start took place at 14:00 – and it was already clear in the first few kilometers who would dominate the race: The Crowes immediately took the lead and were already 11.3 seconds ahead of the duo Ben Birchall/Patrick Rosney (Hager/Wyckham Blackwell LCR Honda) at Glen Helen.

With an outstanding sector from Glen Helen to Ballaugh, they extended their lead to 20 seconds.  At Ramsey it was already 25 seconds.  They finished the first lap with an average speed of 192.15 km/h (119.418 mph), which gave them a comfortable lead of 36.2 seconds.

Tension for second place

The battle for the other podium places was much closer: behind Birchall/Rosney, Blackstock/Lawrence (Dave Holden Racing LCR Yamaha) and Crawford/Hardie (Team ARC/SJH Bodyworks LCR Kawasaki) were initially within a few seconds of each other.  At times, there were only 2.8 seconds between second and fourth place.

The Crowes kept up the pressure on the second lap.  With another best sector to Ballaugh and a breathtaking ride to Ramsey, they were ten seconds off the existing lap record at one point.  At Bungalow, this lead shrank to seven seconds, but they still completed the lap at 194.77 km/h (121.021 mph) – a new official lap record for sidecars at the TT.

Newcomers impress in perfect weather

In addition to the triumph of the Crowes, numerous debutants also impressed: George Holden and Mark Wilkes rode to a solid sixth place on the Barnes Racing DMR Yamaha.  Clarke/Johnson (Eddy’s Moto CES Yamaha) impressed with fifth place – making Clarke the fastest sidecar newcomer in the history of the Tourist Trophy.  Steve Kershaw and Rhys Gibbons, on the other hand, had to abandon their race early at Ballacraine.

Ellis/Clement (Brookland Sand & Aggregates CES Yamaha) finished in fourth place with an average speed of 183.65 km/h (114.102 mph).  The Ramsdens, Blackstock/Lawrence (after a technical stop), Lambert/Haynes and Dawson/Sims completed the top ten.

Historic record at the end

With the new lap record and the clear victory, Ryan and Callum Crowe made an impressive statement.  However, the times of the pursuers show that the standard in the sidecar sector of the TT continues to rise: Birchall/Rosney drove their fastest lap on the island to date at 187.89 km/h (116.713 mph) and thus secured second place in commanding fashion – 17.3 seconds ahead of Crawford/Hardie (185.64 km/h or 115.363 mph), who also made it onto the Tourist Trophy podium for the first time.
