Triumph Motorcycles and the James Bond universe are joining forces once again. The British motorcycle manufacturer from Hinckley has been confirmed as the official motorcycle partner for the upcoming video game 007 First Light. In the game, players will find a custom-built Triumph TF 250-X with a built-in flamethrower, located in the legendary Q Lab. Bond can deploy the fiery special weapon during gameplay, adding an extra dimension to the already action-packed experience. The motorcycle was already showcased as a real show bike at IO Interactive’s stand at Gamescom last year.
Triumph and Bond: A Connection with History
For Triumph, appearing in the Bond universe is not new territory. The brand was already prominently featured in the 25th James Bond film No Time To Die. In the spectacular opening sequence, 007 rode a Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE through the streets of Matera in Italy. That successful collaboration produced three limited Bond special editions, all of which sold out. Additionally, a joint 007 x Triumph clothing collection was created, which is still available today.
With the partnership for 007 First Light, Triumph is now expanding the collaboration from the cinema into the world of video games. The motorcycle stands alongside other well-known brands featured in the game. In addition to Triumph, Aston Martin with a classic 1969 DBS, Omega with the signature Bond watches, and Jaguar and Land Rover are among the partners on board. The Bond franchise has traditionally been known for its brand partnerships, and 007 First Light continues this tradition consistently into the gaming space.
The Triumph TF 250-X: From Race Tool to Bond Gadget
The real Triumph TF 250-X is anything but a prop. The motocross motorcycle was launched in 2024 as a completely new development and has since established itself in the fiercely competitive 250cc class. Developed in close collaboration with motocross legend Ricky Carmichael and five-time Enduro World Champion Iván Cervantes, the TF 250-X features a liquid-cooled 250cc four-stroke single-cylinder engine with DOHC valve control. Triumph specifies an output of 47.3 hp (34.8 kW) and torque of 28.6 Nm (21.1 lb-ft).
The aluminum chassis is ultra-light and compactly designed. KYB technology handles the suspension, including a 48mm AOS fork with 310mm of travel at the front and a three-chamber shock absorber with 305mm of travel at the rear. Brembo supplies the braking system with a 260mm disc up front and a 220mm disc at the rear. For the 2026 model year, the TF 250-X received a new airbox, a redesigned exhaust, a new Exedy clutch, and optimized engine mapping. The wet weight is approximately 106 kg (233 lbs).
In racing, the TF 250-X has already made its mark. Triumph Racing has scored podiums and victories in both AMA Supercross and the MX2 class of the Motocross World Championship. Camden McLellan won the second moto of the FIM MX2 World Championship in Spain for Triumph in 2026. In the Supercross series, Triumph scored its first main event victory in February 2025.
The custom version in the game is based on the TF 250-X but is equipped with the fictional flamethrower as a typical Bond gadget. In the Q Lab, players can discover the motorcycle and activate the flamethrower function during gameplay.
007 First Light: The First Bond Game in 14 Years
007 First Light is far more than just another licensed game. The project has been in development since its announcement as “Project 007” in November 2020 and is produced by IO Interactive, the Danish studio behind the successful Hitman trilogy. After completing Hitman 3 in 2021, the game entered full production. It is the first Bond console game since 007 Legends in 2012, ending a 14-year hiatus in the game series.
The game tells a standalone, newly imagined origin story of James Bond. The plot is not directly tied to the films or the books but draws inspiration from Ian Fleming’s novels and the long-running film franchise. Players step into the role of a 26-year-old Bond, a promising but occasionally defiant naval aviator in the Royal Navy who is recruited by MI6. Over the course of the story, he must earn his 00 status.
Irish actor Patrick Gibson, known from Dexter: Original Sin and The OA, lends Bond his voice and likeness in 007 First Light. The game character’s face was deliberately not modeled after any of the previous film actors. Narrative Director Martin Emborg explained that Gibson brought a built-in impatience that was perfect for a young Bond. Alongside Gibson, the cast includes Lennie James as Bond’s mentor Greenway, Priyanga Burford as M, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, Kiera Lester as Moneypenny, and Noémie Nakai as Ms. Roth. Gemma Chan (Eternals) voices Selina Tan, who serves as the head of tactical simulation at MI6 in the game.
Gameplay Blending Stealth, Combat, and Charm
The gameplay of 007 First Light combines stealth mechanics with action elements and open mission structures. IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak emphasized that they didn’t want to make a game that was just about shooting and running. Bond can also move through social environments, talk to people, and overcome obstacles in creative ways. The experience from the Hitman trilogy fed into the development, yet 007 First Light is fundamentally a different gaming experience than Hitman.
Missions are designed to be open-ended, giving players the choice of whether to resolve situations with brute force, tactical skill, or charming persuasion. Bond’s gadget arsenal plays a central role. Technically, IO Interactive uses its in-house Glacier engine, which was enhanced for the game with a new volumetric smoke system, ray tracing, and dynamic global illumination. For the combat mechanics, the team took inspiration from the freeflow combat system of the Batman Arkham series and the large-scale action sequences of the Uncharted series.
The musical score comes from The Flight. Classic John Barry themes are present in the game, although the young Bond must earn his iconic melodies over the course of the game, as Audio Director Dominic Vega explained.
007 First Light launches on May 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The standard edition costs $69.99 USD (approximately 65 euros). Pre-orders are already available and will automatically be upgraded to the Deluxe Edition, which includes 24-hour early access and various in-game bonuses.
