Ducati recalls Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 due to possible ABS malfunction

Ducati has launched a safety recall in the US for certain Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 models. The reason for this is a possible assembly error in the ABS fuse, which in the worst case could lead to wheel lockup.
  • 1,016 affected motorcycles from the production period at the beginning of 2025
  • Swapped ABS fuses can disable the ABS function
  • Free inspection and correction at Ducati dealers

Ducati North America has filed an official recall with the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for selected Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 models. This follows an internal investigation after an incident involving an ABS malfunction was reported by the dealer network. The analysis showed that a fundamental but safety-related error may have occurred during the wiring harness assembly.

Reason for the recall

The recall focuses on two fuses in the anti-lock braking system. The 25A fuse for the ABS pump and the 10A fuse for the ABS control unit are affected. According to the documentation, these two fuses or their fuse holders may have been mixed up by the supplier during assembly.

If this is the case, the ABS pump is incorrectly protected by only a 10A fuse. During prolonged or intensive braking, when the ABS is frequently activated, this fuse may blow.

Possible consequences while driving

If the smaller fuse blows, the ABS pump is deactivated. In this state, the anti-lock braking system no longer works as intended. According to recall documents, this can cause the front or rear wheels to lock, increasing the risk of a fall.

In such a case, the rider is informed by a permanent “ABS Error” message on the display and by an illuminated ABS warning light. The system then remains deactivated until the fault is rectified.

Affected models and production periods

The recall affects a total of 1,016 motorcycles, which corresponds to approximately 1.2 percent of the relevant production volume. The following models are affected:

Ducati Panigale V2

  • Model year 2025
  • Production from February 4, 2025, to May 23, 2025
  • Potentially affected: 644 vehicles

Ducati Streetfighter V2

  • Model years 2025 and 2026
  • Production from March 31, 2025, to June 12, 2025
  • Potentially affected: 372 vehicles

According to Ducati, all Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 models produced from June 13, 2025, have already been checked and are not included in the recall.

Timeline of the investigation

Ducati first became aware of the problem on June 3, 2025, through a report from its global network. In this case, the ABS warning light came on during a braking maneuver, then the rear wheel locked up and the motorcycle crashed. The investigation found that the ABS fuses had been mixed up.

Further checks in inventory and production revealed additional assembly errors. During subsequent monitoring, additional cases were identified worldwide. According to the report, no accidents were reported in the US itself.

In response, the supplier introduced an additional, fail-safe assembly process with enhanced quality controls on June 13, 2025.

Recall procedure and remedy

Ducati North America informed its dealer network about the recall between December 15 and 22, 2025. Affected owners will be notified by mail between January 26 and February 2, 2026.

Authorized Ducati dealers are instructed to check the position of the fuses and fuse holders and correct them if necessary. This measure is free of charge for owners.

Note for riders outside the USA

Even though the recall formally applies to the US market, owners of Panigale V2 or Streetfighter V2 models from early production periods should contact their Ducati dealer as a precaution. A quick check of the fuse position using the chassis number can provide additional peace of mind.
