After the end of the MotoGP season, Fabio Quartararo is apparently using the winter break in an unconventional way. Instead of classic training, the focus was on a special project that combined motorcycle technology, design, and craftsmanship. The result is an extraordinary Yamaha R9 that is deliberately staged outside its original purpose.
Collaboration between Yamaha, Quartararo, and Twojeys
The project centers on a collaboration between Yamaha, MotoGP world champion Fabio Quartararo, and Spanish jewelry brand Twojeys. The collaboration is not intended as a motorsport project, but rather as a creative experiment. The goal was to place a motorcycle in a new context and combine classic racetrack aesthetics with artistic elements.
The one-of-a-kind bike was first presented on social media. The photos of Quartararo riding the R9 on snow attracted particular attention. The staging shows the motorcycle far away from asphalt and racetracks.
Hand-painted finish and sterling silver details
The project is based on a Yamaha R9 with a black hand-painted base color. The design is complemented by silver flames on the tank and fairing. The numerous sterling silver components, which were handmade in Barcelona, are particularly striking.
The silver components include the brake and clutch levers, engine covers, rims, and parts of the exhaust system. The logos of the partners involved were also made of silver. The craftsmanship is intended to underline the connection between Japanese engineering and Spanish craftsmanship.
Star motif as a central design element
A recurring element of the design is the star shape, which is characteristic of Twojeys. This motif can be found in several places on the motorcycle. Star-shaped holes have been integrated into the brake discs. The tailpipes of the exhaust also reflect this shape. In addition, the star pattern is milled into the brake and clutch levers.
The graphic elements are deliberately eye-catching and clearly shape the overall impression of the motorcycle.
Staged in the snow instead of on the racetrack
For the winter staging, the motorcycle was visually adapted for riding on snow and ice. A so-called Icon Link chain was integrated into the tires. This measure serves less for actual riding and more for the visual interpretation of a racing motorcycle in a winter environment.
In videos, it looks as if Quartararo has found an unusual recreational toy for the winter break. However, the machine is not intended to be used for technical or sporting purposes.
Exhibition in Barcelona
The Yamaha R9 25 is a one-of-a-kind model. The motorcycle is not intended for road use or racing. Instead, it is being presented as a design object.
