- Partnership in place since 2014, now extended until 2029
- 82 BMW motorcycles and matching riding gear at ten ADAC locations
- Four training formats from 145 to 199 euros, some available without a motorcycle license
- Around 1,700 participants used the program last year
Shortly before the start of the 2026 motorcycle season, ADAC and BMW Motorrad have extended their long-standing collaboration in rider safety for another three years. At ten training centers, 82 BMW motorcycles from various model lines will be available for beginners, returning riders, and experienced motorcyclists to improve their skills.
The partnership between ADAC and BMW Motorrad has been a fixture in motorcycle safety in Germany for over a decade. On March 27, 2026, Michael Sommer, Head of BMW Motorrad Germany, and ADAC Board Member Dr. Dieter Nirschl signed the extension of the cooperation agreement for another three years. This means the collaboration, which began in 2014, will continue at least until 2029. The core idea is to offer motorcyclists of all experience levels professional training opportunities on current BMW models without participants having to bring their own motorcycle.
82 Motorcycles at Ten ADAC Training Centers
Under the renewed cooperation, BMW Motorrad is providing a total of 82 motorcycles from various model lines along with matching rider equipment including helmets, gloves, and protective clothing with armor. The machines and equipment are deployed at ten ADAC driving safety centers across Germany, where they are used for the BMW Motorrad Ride events powered by ADAC. Compared to the previous cooperation phase, which featured 149 motorcycles at twelve locations, the current fleet is smaller. Last year alone, around 1,700 motorcyclists and interested parties participated in the various training formats.
Four Programs for Different Target Groups
The training offering is divided into four different formats, each targeting different groups. In all programs, both the BMW motorcycles and riding gear in standard sizes are provided.
BMW Motorrad Ride First
The entry-level format is aimed at anyone who does not yet hold a motorcycle license and wants to find out whether motorcycling is right for them. In the three-hour training session, basic skills such as ergonomics, seating position, and balance exercises are taught. Participants learn mounting and dismounting as well as pushing the motorcycle, practice starting the engine and using the clutch, and eventually complete their first solo rides. Group size is limited to a maximum of four people, and the price is 185 euros.
BMW Motorrad Ride Again
The returning rider training is designed for riders who hold a license but have not ridden a motorcycle for an extended period. Over approximately 4.5 hours, basic exercises including proper seating, vision and steering techniques, safe starting and stopping, and effective braking and evasive maneuvers are practiced. The training costs 145 euros with a maximum group size of eight to ten participants, depending on the location.
BMW Motorrad Ride Experience
The newest format in the cooperation combines a half-day training session with a guided group ride on public roads. During the training portion, fundamentals such as safe starting, stopping, braking, and evasive maneuvers are practiced before the skills are put into practice on the guided tour. The full-day training lasts a total of 7.5 hours and costs 199 euros. Group size is limited to a maximum of eight participants.
BMW Motorrad Test Ride
Riders who have already booked or plan to book a regular ADAC motorcycle training course can optionally choose a BMW motorcycle for the session. In this format, professional exercises under the guidance of experienced ADAC instructors are combined with the opportunity to test various current BMW models during the training.
Why Rider Safety Training Makes Sense at the Start of the Season
Motorcyclists face a significantly higher risk of being fatally injured in a traffic accident compared to car drivers. This risk is particularly relevant at the beginning of the motorcycle season in spring, as many riders have had no opportunity to ride their motorcycle during the winter months. Riding skills noticeably deteriorate during this time. Fundamental abilities such as the feel for lean angle, brake modulation, and proper vision technique in corners need to be rebuilt after a break of several months. The ADAC riding safety courses provide a controlled environment where exactly these skills can be practiced without the risks of real road traffic.
Training Prices at a Glance
Prices for the BMW Ride training programs range from 145 to 199 euros. The returning rider training Ride Again is the most affordable format at 145 euros, followed by the beginner training Ride First at 185 euros. The new Ride Experience with a guided tour costs 199 euros for the full day. All prices include the use of BMW motorcycles and rider equipment.
