Ducati is working on expanding its off-road range and is preparing two new models for summer 2026. The company is thus continuing on its path of expanding its own motocross and enduro range after the brand’s first motocross model went on sale in July.
New models for Ducati’s anniversary year
2026 marks the manufacturer’s centenary, and most of the new models are set to be released during this period. In addition to classic road bikes such as the Monster V2, Hypermotard V2, and Hypermotard V2 SP, as well as a revamped DesertX V2, Ducati is also working on two pure off-road models that are planned for release next year.
The two new additions, the Desmo250 MX and Desmo450 Enduro, have already been presented to the public. However, they will not be launched on the market until after May 2026, as the DesertX V2 will be available at dealerships first. The Desmo250 MX is intended to be a smaller version of the Desmo450 and round off the portfolio at the lower end.
Connection to racing and first appearances
The Desmo450 serves as the basis, as the model has already been used in MXGP. The motorcycle is also set to compete there in 2026. Ducati is planning an expanded team of three factory machines for this, following the announcement of a collaboration with Louis Vosters’ Dutch team.
The Desmo250 MX has also had its first taste of competition. A prototype was introduced ahead of its market launch in the Italian MX2 Championship, where Alessandro Lupino debuted the motorcycle.
Technical highlights and expected features
There is little official information available about the exact specifications of either model at this stage. The Desmo450 Enduro is expected to feature the same liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine as the Desmo450 MX, with a displacement of 449.2 cc. The MX variant delivers 62.6 hp (46 kW) at 9400 rpm and 53.56 Nm (39.5 lb-ft) of torque at 7500 rpm.
In terms of chassis equipment, the Enduro is expected to feature a similar configuration to the MX version. This uses a fully adjustable 49-millimeter Showa telescopic fork and a Showa rear shock absorber.
Outlook
No specific prices or further technical data for the two models have been announced yet. Ducati is currently focusing on the gradual expansion of its own off-road program and is using existing racing structures to drive forward the development of the new series. The Desmo250 MX and Desmo450 Enduro are expected to be launched in the summer of 2026.
