The M9 RR is the successor to the M7 RR supersport tire. It should also offer maximum grip, handling and safety in unexpected driving situations, on wet or uneven asphalt.

Developed by Road Racing

The M9 RR is designed for supersport and naked bikes that are used every day and in all weather conditions and prefer a sporty riding style. RR stands for Road Racing and refers to the legendary Tourist Trophy on the Isle of Man. Since one have to compete there with street-legal tires, the tire series is also used there and was also victorious in 2019.

METZELER uses road racing as a test and development platform to constantly improve the performance of its products. The very wide range of driving situations in road racing has a major impact here.

Features and advantages of the SPORTEC ™ M9 RR

The main advantages are:

  • a very high level of grip thanks to the use of bi-compound tread compounds made of full silica, both on the front and rear tires. The mixtures are matched to the tread pattern in the center area to ensure the best traction and directional stability on the straight. The tire has slick areas on the shoulder that offer a high degree of grip on a wide range of asphalt and at maximum incline.
  • excellent handling, which is achieved thanks to an innovative tire construction. This improves the responsiveness of the tire depending on the area of application and ensures comfort and driving pleasure at low speed, as well as precise handling at higher speed.
  • first-class wet grip, which is made possible by the properties of the full silica mixtures and their construction They also ensure quick warm-up on wet and cold surfaces.

Changed structure

The structure has been slightly revised compared to the predecessor. The engineers have developed a so-called rayon structure, which is 6 percent stiffer than the M7 RR. The lower density and the use of a larger amount of rubber compound provide improved damping properties which provide a better driving experience at high speeds but also improved driving precision.
