Revised appearance and technology
The design of the Brabus 1400 R Signature Edition differs visibly from its predecessor. Particularly striking is the new front end, which is characterized by a distinctive light signature. Revised bodywork and an exhaust system with twin exhaust configuration (not for the US market) underline the unique look.
The new Brembo Hypure braking system is designed to provide optimized braking performance and improved temperature resistance. For the wheel design, Brabus has opted for Monoblock II Evo three-spoke wheels, whose design is based on vehicles from the 1980s and which are intended to show off the rear with its aluminum single-sided swing arm to particular advantage.
Engine and chassis from the KTM 1390 Super Duke R
Technically, the Brabus 1400 R Signature Edition is largely based on the KTM 1390 Super Duke R (Evo). At its heart is the proven LC8 V2 engine with a displacement of 1,350 cm³, which delivers 140 kW (190 hp) at 10,000 rpm. The maximum torque is 145 Nm at 8,000 rpm. A two-stage intake camshaft adjustment (Cam-Shift) is also used. According to information available to date, Brabus continues to refrain from engine tuning in its two-wheeled models, relying instead on the powerful standard version.
The semi-active suspension from WP Suspension, also taken from the 1390 Super Duke R Evo, offers automatic load detection and a lowering function when stationary. The frame is made of chrome-molybdenum steel, complemented by an aluminum single-sided swing arm. The ready-to-ride weight is stated as approximately 210 kg (approx. 463 lbs).
Exclusivity and pricing
Like its predecessors, the Brabus 1400 R Signature Edition is expected to be offered as a strictly limited small series. Previous Brabus models based on KTM were always priced significantly higher than their sister models from KTM. The Masterpiece Edition of the Brabus 1300 R was offered in 2023 in a limited edition of 50 units at a price of €49,900 (approx. $52,700). Previous special models cost between €38,500 (approx. $40,650) and €42,500 (approx. $44,900). Given the extensive revisions and the further increase in exclusivity, the Brabus 1400 R Signature Edition is likely to exceed the €50,000 (approx. $54,400) mark.
Cooperation between Brabus and KTM
Brabus, originally known as a tuner of exclusive automobiles, has also been active in the motorcycle segment since 2022. The cooperation with KTM began with the Brabus 1300 R based on the KTM 1290 Super Duke R and has continued ever since. In March 2024, new trademarks were registered with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), confirming the continuation of the collaboration.
