- First event on 28 October 2026 at the Italian Consulate General in San Francisco
- Second event on 4 November 2026 in Milan during EICMA week
- The investors from Singapore have still not been publicly identified
Energica had been quiet for a long time. In October 2024, the manufacturer from Modena had to file for insolvency, after which the company was wound up. Since summer 2025, investors from Singapore have been working to get the brand back on the road. Now the restart has been officially confirmed. Energica wants to show this with a series of events, the first in the USA, the second in Italy. For owners and prospective buyers, one question remains above all: how solid is this restart?

When and where will Energica appear after the restart?
Energica is inviting guests to the Consulate General of Italy in San Francisco on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, from 6 to 8 pm. A second event follows on 4 November in Milan, right in the middle of EICMA motorcycle show week.
The San Francisco gathering is titled “Motor Valley to Silicon Valley”. Energica owners and riders from the Bay Area, the region around San Francisco, are invited. They will spend an evening with the team behind the brand. The focus is on plans for the future, including the US subsidiary Energica US.
Anyone who can is asked to arrive on their own Energica. Whether Ego, Eva Ribelle, EsseEsse9 or Experia: the motorcycles are to be lined up in front of the consulate. Guests without their own bike are also welcome but must state this when registering. Food and drinks are provided. Places are limited, and every registration has to be confirmed first. The registration deadline is Wednesday, 21 October.
The second stop in Milan runs under the motto “Energica back on the road”. The company has not yet released further details about this date. This means the second public appearance falls exactly in the week in which many manufacturers present their new models for the coming model year in Milan.
Why is Energica starting in San Francisco of all places?
The title of the first event links the brand’s origins with one of its most important markets. Energica comes from Modena in the so-called Motor Valley, while Silicon Valley has long been considered one of the strongest markets for electric motorcycles.
Motor Valley is a region in northern Italy known for its motorsport history. Energica, too, built its reputation primarily in racing. The manufacturer was the sole supplier of race bikes for the first four seasons of the FIM MotoE World Cup. All riders in the electric racing series therefore rode machines from Modena at the time. In addition, Energica motorcycles competed in the American MotoAmerica championship.

What has happened at Energica since the insolvency?
Energica filed for insolvency in October 2024 and was subsequently liquidated, meaning completely wound up. In summer 2025, investors from Singapore acquired the brand as part of a court-supervised sale.
The problems had started earlier. Around two years before the insolvency, the US investment firm Ideanomics had acquired 75 percent of Energica. Then market conditions deteriorated, and the months-long search for a new backer was unsuccessful. Shortly after Energica, Ideanomics itself also had to file for insolvency.
During the liquidation, the manufacturer’s assets were auctioned off. These included patents, stored motorcycles and the factory. Bidding is said to have started at 4.2 million euros (around 4.9 million US dollars), and the sale price was reportedly around 5.7 million euros (around 6.6 million US dollars).
Then, in July 2025, a first sign of life: investors from Singapore are said to have submitted an offer with a large down payment. In August, Energica announced that the existing management would remain in place under the new owners. In September, Stefano Benatti confirmed the completed takeover in a video. He presented a clear plan: first, spare parts were to become available again for existing customers, then production of the existing models was to start.
Which models will Energica build after the restart?
Initially, the four familiar models Ego, Eva Ribelle, EsseEsse9 and Experia are to be built again. According to as yet unconfirmed reports, new models are to follow at the end of 2026.
The Ego was the brand’s first model and is a sporty superbike with electric drive. The Eva is the unfaired sister of the Ego, a so-called naked bike in streetfighter style. Early versions produced 95 kW (129 hp), later ones 107 kW (145 hp). The EsseEsse9 came onto the market in 2017, the Eva Ribelle in 2020. Both share their drive technology with the Ego, with the EsseEsse9 relying on a more classic look and a more relaxed riding position.
The Experia was added in 2022. It is a touring motorcycle for longer distances and can be charged at CCS fast chargers, the same charging stations used by many electric cars. The Experia is said to have contributed significantly to sales rising by around 200 percent to roughly 13 million euros (around 15.1 million US dollars) in 2022.
Energica was long regarded as a pioneer in electric motorcycles. The brand was the first to use CCS fast-charging in a motorcycle. Added to this were decent ranges, powerful drivetrains and the know-how gained in MotoE. The new owners have also taken over the development projects that had been started before the liquidation, as well as the company’s expertise.
According to unconfirmed reports, production in Modena was due to restart in early summer 2026. In March 2026, Energica announced that it would resume deliveries in July 2026, with customers who had pre-ordered given priority. The manufacturer’s message at the time: “This is not a reboot. It is a resurgence. Energica is back.” The company has not yet given any concrete figures on motorcycles already delivered.

Where can you buy and service an Energica?
Strictly speaking, there is no longer a fixed dealer network after the liquidation, because the old company’s contracts are no longer legally valid. The new owners are therefore said to be rebuilding the sales network step by step.
That is not easy. The bankruptcy cost the brand a lot of trust among many former partners. Numerous former dealers still have unsold motorcycles in stock. Within the industry, opinions on the restart range from rejection to optimism.
However, the first structures are in place. In Belgium and the Netherlands, the regional distribution partner Future Mobility is helping to secure spare parts and service for existing customers. In spring 2026, Energica also called on riders to get back in touch with their dealers. According to the company, supporting the existing motorcycles is its top priority. In the medium term, Energica wants to regain a foothold in its previous core markets and later also enter markets where the brand has never been present. According to a statement from August 2025, Asia in particular is in focus.
Who is behind the Energica restart?
The investors from Singapore have still not been publicly identified. The company is led by Stefano Benatti, and the original team in Italy is said to remain on board.
Benatti initially appeared as Global Sales Director and is now named as CEO. Little is known about the backers themselves. In a promotional video, they are described as enthusiasts who believe in the brand’s values. How much money they have invested is not known. People in talks with the new owners are said to have been bound to secrecy. At the end of 2025, the manufacturer’s website was at times even missing the legally required imprint.
Development and operations continue to be managed from Italy. The investors’ plans are reportedly being implemented in part by the former team at the old company headquarters. This is intended to ensure that the technical know-how stays within the company.

What are Energica’s chances in the market?
The market for large electric motorcycles is difficult. Many volume manufacturers are largely withdrawing from this segment because they consider the niche too small and the market prospects too limited.
For Energica, this is both a warning and an opportunity. Less competition means more room in the niche. At the same time, the brand’s history shows where the difficulties lie. Energica’s motorcycles were technically sophisticated but expensive and heavy. As a result, volumes remained small, and buyers looking for an everyday motorcycle often opted for other brands.
The events in San Francisco and Milan are therefore more than a photo opportunity. They are the first major public appearances at which the team presents its plans to customers. How viable the business model is after the restart will become clear in the coming months.
