European Bike Week 2025: A look back at Europe’s largest motorcycle festival

From September 2 to 7, 2025, the region around Lake Faaker See was all about motorcycles: European Bike Week 2025 brought together more than 100,000 motorcycle fans from Europe and overseas in Carinthia. The event is considered Europe’s largest free motorcycle festival and offered a mix of brand experience, riding fun, and community spirit—especially around Harley-Davidson.

Harley-Davidson as the central element

Once again, Harley Village in Faak am See was the center of the event. There, the US manufacturer presented its latest models for the 2025 model year. One of the highlights was the “Fat Boy Gray Ghost,” a special model reminiscent of Willie G. Davidson’s iconic Fat Boy design. The exhibition was complemented by the Pan America Adventure Zone, where off-road presentations and riding training were offered. In the neighboring demo zone, as well as on the Jumpstart riding simulator and a racing simulator, visitors were able to gain their first riding experiences with Harley-Davidson machines.

There was a special focus on sustainability: all test rides were carried out with V-Twin machines powered by Nordoel’s alternative, organically produced e-fuel.

Technology, racing, and custom culture

Not far from the Harley-Davidson Expo, a MotoGP exhibition took place, featuring real racing machines that bridged the gap between motorsport and motorcycle technology. This exhibition also served as a preview of the upcoming Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup, which is set to take place for the first time in 2026. Specially prepared touring machines will compete against each other on international race tracks.

The topic of customization was not neglected either: the traditional custom bike show was moved to Villach this year. Sixty-five participants from all over the world presented their conversions on the historic main square. The competition, sponsored by Metzeler, was held in six categories. The main prize, “Best in Show,” went to customizer NED from Kuwait, whose bike, in the opinion of the jury, particularly impressively combined craftsmanship and design.

Regional expansion to Velden and Villach

For the first time, the event noticeably expanded to the surrounding towns. In Velden, the exclusive CVO models took center stage. These machines combine elaborate workmanship with high-quality design and are an integral part of Harley-Davidson’s premium strategy.

Villach, on the other hand, became the stage for the custom scene. Moving the custom bike competition to the city center helped to get the local population and economy more involved. The lively atmosphere and international focus of the show underscored the importance of European Bike Week as a cultural event that goes beyond motorcycle racing.

Joint ride as emotional highlight

The big Harley-Davidson parade on Saturday was once again one of the emotional highlights. Around 10,000 riders took part in the ride through the picturesque landscape of Carinthia. The parade not only symbolized the solidarity within the biker scene, but also focused on the central theme of the event: the shared experience of freedom and passion for motorcycling.

Another highlight was the raffle for a Harley-Davidson Low Rider ST. The lucky winner from Italy was celebrated by the crowd on Saturday evening at the H-D Plaza.

Outlook for 2026: Three major events in Europe

Harley-Davidson has already announced the next major events for the coming year. European Bike Week 2026 will take place again in Faak am See from September 8 to 13. Two other events are also on the agenda: the European Spring Rally from April 30 to May 3 in Senigallia, Italy, and the European H.O.G. Rally from June 18 to 21 in Cascais, Portugal.

In addition, on September 13, 2025, numerous Harley-Davidson dealers in Europe will open their doors for an autumn “open house” event. In addition to the latest models, visitors can look forward to chatting with like-minded people, checking out accessories, and browsing a range of clothing from the Milwaukee-based brand. Anyone who buys a new Harley-Davidson by September 30 will receive a voucher worth €1,500 (approx. $1,600) for clothing and accessories.
