- Date: Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 9 AM at the Druegen Puett in Haltern am See
- Beneficiaries: SisBroJekt of the Children’s Palliative Care Center Datteln and Kinderhospiz Gut Feismann in Nottuln
- Around 40 motorcycle sidecars will take siblings of hospice children along on the tour
On the first weekend of June, the Druegen Puett on Muensterstrasse 317 in Haltern am See will become the starting point of a large-scale motorcycle charity ride. Under the motto Leuchtende Augen (Shining Eyes), operators Marco Pape and Sabrina Macher, together with a team of volunteers and sponsors, invite riders to a group ride through the Muensterland region. The route covers approximately 80 kilometers. All proceeds from the day go directly to the beneficiary projects without any deductions.

What Exactly Is the Leuchtende Augen Charity Ride at Druegen Puett?
The Leuchtende Augen (Shining Eyes) charity ride is an open charity event starting from the Druegen Puett. Coffee is served from 9 AM, followed by a soundcheck at 11 AM, after which the group ride begins. According to current information, no formal registration is required. Marco Pape states the goal clearly: This year we are drumming up support particularly intensively and want to reach as many bikers as possible. That is why we started planning early. He expects a four-figure number of participants and says the support has already been enormous in the run-up.
For coffee sales, the event relies on voluntary generosity. We are preparing a thousand pots of coffee, which cost 2.50 euros, Pape explains. And if someone wants to pay five euros or more, we are happy to accept that. All proceeds go to the children, our goal this year is to reach five figures! The fact that motorcyclists are known to drink a lot of coffee, as Pape notes with a wink, should certainly help the donation pot.
Can Siblings of Hospice Children Join the Ride?
A special feature of this year’s charity ride is the approximately 40 motorcycles with sidecars that have been organized specifically for the occasion. Siblings of hospice children will be able to participate in the ride in these sidecars. According to the Halterner Zeitung, this is a personal concern of the organizers. The idea directly connects the purpose of the charity ride with the families who will benefit from the collected funds.
Who Benefits from the Donations?
The proceeds go to two institutions: the SisBroJekt of the Freundeskreis Kinderpalliativzentrum Datteln e.V. and the animal-assisted children’s hospice Gut Feismann in Nottuln.
The SisBroJekt, whose name is composed of Sister, Brother, and Projekt (project), is a program specifically for the healthy siblings of seriously ill children. It serves children and young people between 6 and 18 years of age. According to the Children’s Palliative Care Center, the sibling group meets once a month on Saturdays, sometimes at the palliative care center itself, sometimes on group outings. The program ranges from climbing and sailing to creative workshops. The goal: to give healthy siblings a protected space where they can express their own needs and worries without feeling like they are adding to the burden on their already strained family. The SisBroJekt is a permanently donation-funded project.
The Children’s Palliative Care Center itself was opened in 2010 at the Vestische Kinder- und Jugendklinik Datteln and is described as the first facility of its kind in Germany. On the Lichtblicke (Glimmers of Hope) palliative ward with eight rooms and through the Specialized Outpatient Palliative Care (SAPV), a multi-professional team cares for children, adolescents, and young adults with life-threatening illnesses. According to the Children’s Palliative Care Center, an estimated 100,000 children and adolescents in Germany live with a life-threatening or life-limiting illness. The facility depends on donations, as health insurance and hospital funding do not cover all costs. The Freundeskreis Kinderpalliativzentrum Datteln e.V. handles donation coordination.
The Kinderhospiz Gut Feismann in Nottuln-Darup takes a different approach. The former farmstead at the foot of the Baumberge hills was acquired in 2016 by Carolin and Stefan Feismann and converted over several years into an animal-assisted children’s hospice. Horses, dogs, sheep, cats, and other animals are an integral part of the therapeutic concept. Families with children who have life-limiting illnesses can spend free stays there, which according to the institution are meant to feel like a vacation when a normal vacation is not possible due to care requirements. Gut Feismann also offers end-of-life and bereavement support, including for parents of angel babies. The entire program is funded exclusively through donations. A team of around 22 staff members, including palliative pediatric nurses, therapeutic education specialists, and family bereavement counselors, works on the farm.
How Can You Support the Charity Ride Without a Motorcycle?
In addition to participating in the ride itself, donations can be made through the purchase of merchandise. In cooperation with the provider Perfekt Unperfekt, exclusive T-shirts, hoodies, and safety vests for children and adults are available for the charity ride. According to the Druegen Puett, 4 euros from every textile sold go directly to the beneficiary projects without any deductions. The items can be ordered online through the Perfekt Unperfekt shop. Furthermore, according to the Halterner Zeitung, numerous sponsors have already pledged their support.
The Druegen Puett: From Biker Meeting Point to Charity Organizer
The Druegen Puett is considered the oldest biker meeting point in the Muensterland region and is located at Muensterstrasse 317 in Haltern am See. Marco Pape and Sabrina Macher run the cult snack bar, which has also become known as Pizza Puett thanks to its expanded menu. The couple also won the Sat.1 cooking show Das Schnaeppchen-Menue.
Charity rides have a tradition at the Druegen Puett. In August 2025, nearly 150 motorcyclists already set off from the Druegen Puett on a charity ride in aid of two children’s hospices. This year’s event aims to be significantly larger with a target of four-figure participation. In the biker meeting point’s event calendar, the charity ride is listed alongside other events, including a PoliTour on May 31, 2026, where a motorcycle outing takes place together with the police, as well as test ride events with Ducati Muensterland and the Triumph Team Muenster.
