Macau GP 2026: ESR champion Matthys takes on the Guia Circuit

The entry list for the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix 2026 is filling up. Two new names have now been added: Fedrik Matthys and Kevin Keyes. Neither of them has ever raced on the Guia Circuit. The street course in Macau has a reputation for being uncompromising. For both riders, a new chapter begins in November. Asia’s big road race takes place from 19 to 22 November.

Who is making their debut at the Macau GP 2026?

Fedrik Matthys and Kevin Keyes will line up at the Macau GP 2026 for the first time. Matthys rides a BMW, Keyes a Honda Fireblade with support from Daracore Racing.

The two arrive in Macau with different backgrounds. Matthys has just won the first season of a new European road racing series. Keyes has experience from the road races in Ireland and from the Isle of Man. Both are said to be looking forward to proving themselves on the demanding Guia Circuit.

How did Fedrik Matthys win the ESR title?

The Belgian secured the first title of the European Series Road Racing in August 2026 at Hořice. He finished with 245 points, five more than his team-mate Laurent Hoffmann.

In the finale, Matthys deliberately avoided any risk. He stayed out of close battles, because a crash would have cost him the title. The calculation paid off. Eighth place made him the fourth-best rider among the series regulars, and that was enough for the championship.

The day at Hořice was nevertheless shaped by someone else. Hoffmann, who rides for the same team and helped build the series, won both Superbike races. In the second run, Markus Karlsson came home second, 6.710 seconds behind. At that point he was still awaiting his first start at the Manx Grand Prix. Nico Müller finished third despite crashing the previous day. Behind him came Tomas Toth, Anssi Koski and the Austrian Florian Astner.

The first ESR season ran from Hengelo via the North West 200 and Hořice to Imatra and Chimay. Third overall was Finland’s Anssi Koski with 166 points. For Matthys, this season is now followed by an appearance on the international stage. He is the first champion of the new series to present himself in Macau.

What does Kevin Keyes bring to Macau?

Kevin Keyes has already won a Supersport race at Kells. At the Tourist Trophy on the Isle of Man, his personal best is a lap at an average of 125.95 mph (around 202.7 km/h).

In Macau, Keyes relies on a Honda Fireblade, supported by Daracore Racing. Like Matthys, he has never seen the Guia Circuit before. Road racers from various series and countries come together there.

Which riders have already entered the Macau GP 2026?

Besides Matthys and Keyes, Maurizio Bottalico, Olivier Lupberger and Mikey Evans are on the entry list so far. Bottalico rides a BMW for RVS Motorsport, Evans competes for Dafabet Racing.

The list is not complete yet. More riders are due to be confirmed during October. That should show how big the field will be this year and how many newcomers will take on the Guia Circuit.
