Aston Martin AMB 002: First Road-Legal Bike Limited to 300 Units

Aston Martin and Brough Superior have unveiled the AMB 002 Roadster, the first road-legal motorcycle from their partnership. It is powered by a newly developed 1,083 cc V-twin sitting in a frame machined from solid titanium.
  • New 1,083 cc V-twin with 130 hp (95.6 kW) and 110 Nm (around 81 lb-ft)
  • Titanium frame machined from solid, 5 kg (around 11 lbs), total weight 190 kg (around 419 lbs)
  • Limited to 300 units, first deliveries in the third quarter of 2027

For seven years, motorcycles carrying the Aston Martin badge were built for the race track only. Back in 2019, the British car maker announced it would enter the two-wheel business together with Brough Superior. Brough Superior is a traditional British marque that Thierry Henriette revived in 2013 and which today builds its machines in Toulouse. The partnership produced the AMB 001 and the AMB 001 Pro, neither of them road-legal. On 9 September 2026, Aston Martin presented the AMB 002 Roadster at its Gaydon headquarters in England. It is the first model from the partnership that is allowed to carry a number plate.

What sets the AMB 002 apart from the previous AMB models?

The AMB 002 is an entirely new design and, according to the manufacturer, shares no components with its predecessors. The decisive difference, however, lies in its purpose: both earlier models were pure track machines, while the AMB 002 has been developed for the road.

The AMB 001 arrived in 2019 with a supercharged 997 cc V-twin and was limited to 100 units. In 2022 it was followed by the AMB 001 Pro, using a reworked version of the same engine with around 225 hp (165 kW), built in 88 examples. According to the manufacturer, the model took its cue from the Valkyrie AMR Pro, an Aston Martin hypercar built without regulatory constraints.

Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer at Aston Martin, says that an Aston Martin motorcycle for the road had been a long-held dream. The AMB 002 promises a riding experience that does not yet exist in motorcycle building. It is explicitly not a track model with a road registration. According to both companies, it is aimed at demanding road riders and at collectors from the automotive world.

How powerful is the new V-twin in the Aston Martin AMB 002?

The new engine produces 130 hp (95.6 kW) and delivers 110 Nm (around 81 lb-ft). According to the manufacturer, it has been tuned for strong pull in the low and mid rev range rather than for high peak output.

Technically it is a liquid-cooled four-stroke V-twin with an 88-degree cylinder angle, twin overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. The camshafts are driven by a combination of chain and gears. Bore and stroke measure 98 by 71.8 millimetres. The gearbox has six speeds and is designed as a cassette unit, which means it can be removed as a complete block. There is also a hydraulically operated multi-plate wet clutch with an APTC slipper function, which damps rear wheel hop under hard downshifts.

The engine is developed, machined and assembled entirely at the plant in Toulouse. The crankcase halves are CNC-machined from solid billet. Brough Superior cites lower weight and greater stiffness as the reasons, referring to manufacturing methods from the aerospace industry.

Why does the AMB 002 do without a telescopic fork?

Instead of a telescopic fork, the AMB 002 uses a double wishbone design, the Fior front end. It separates steering and braking forces from one another and keeps the front wheel geometry more stable than a conventional fork could.

The manufacturer lists more precise steering and greater stability in fast corners as the benefits. Because the design barely dives under braking, it is said to remain safe even when braking while leaned over. The Fior front end is a further development of the system created for the AMB 001 Pro.

Frame and weight

The frame is machined from a solid titanium billet and forms a load-bearing backbone into which the engine is integrated as a stressed member. The rear section is made of aluminium. The titanium frame weighs just 5 kg (around 11 lbs), making it considerably lighter than a conventional structure. Together with the bodywork and the carbon fibre tank, this results in a low centre of gravity. The manufacturer quotes a total weight of 190 kg (around 419 lbs) and a 50:50 weight distribution.

Suspension, brakes and tyres

At the front there is a shock absorber with 100 millimetres of travel, adjustable for preload and rebound. At the rear, a machined aluminium swingarm guides the wheel and is mounted directly in the engine casing. It acts on an equally adjustable shock via a progressive linkage, with 124 millimetres of travel. The rake is 21.3 degrees. Braking is handled at the front by two 320 millimetre discs with radially mounted four-piston calipers, and at the rear by a 230 millimetre disc with a two-piston caliper. The machined aluminium wheels have ten spokes and carry a 120/70 ZR17 at the front and a 190/55 ZR17 at the rear.

As for dimensions, Brough Superior quotes 2,150 millimetres in length, 840 millimetres in width across the mirrors and a wheelbase of 1,472 millimetres. Seat height is 875 millimetres, measured with the suspension fully extended.

Which details come from car manufacturing?

Several design elements are clearly taken from the brand’s cars. These include the side strake, the exhaust tips and the tail lights.

The side strake typical of Aston Martin pierces the side panel and runs forward all the way around the headlight, which sits in a gold-coloured mount. The two oval exhaust tips have ribbed cooling elements of the kind also found on the Vanquish, DB12 S and DBX S. At the rear sit light blades of the same type that Aston Martin uses on the Vulcan, Valkyrie and Valhalla hypercars. There is also a keyless system, a backlit start button and hand-crafted saddle leather seat padding.

The carbon fibre tank and side panels are shaped so that they meet the rider when he tucks in behind the fairing. Crescent-shaped openings are cut into the flanks to cool the engine and guide air along the machine. The mirrors sit low and are carried on wire-like stalks.

Thierry Henriette, President of Brough Superior Motorcycles Sas, describes the riding sensation as “becoming one with a lightweight, precise blade”. The upright riding position and the open field of view are meant to create the impression of floating above the road.

When does the Aston Martin AMB 002 arrive and what does it cost?

The first deliveries are planned for the third quarter of 2027, and the order books are already open. Aston Martin and Brough Superior have not yet named a price.

Orders can be placed online, directly at the showroom in Toulouse or through a dealer. According to the manufacturer, the price remains the same regardless of the route chosen. For context: the AMB 001 cost 108,000 euros at the time, which then corresponded to roughly 120,000 US dollars. At the current exchange rate that would be around 125,800 US dollars. No conclusion about the price of the AMB 002 can be drawn from this.

A total of 300 motorcycles will be built, each one assembled by hand. The manufacturer justifies the limit by saying that its own standards for materials and finish are not compatible with series production.

What happens next in the Aston Martin and Brough Superior partnership?

Both companies present the AMB 002 as an expansion of their joint programme rather than its conclusion. The model range thus grows from two track machines to three models.

Stefano Saporetti, responsible for brand diversification at Aston Martin, speaks of a “powerhouse of luxury co-creation”. What began as a single project, he says, has become a lasting contribution to brand value. Demand for Aston Martin’s design language apparently extends beyond four wheels when it meets Brough Superior engineering. With the AMB 002, Aston Martin’s wings emblem appears on a road-legal motorcycle for the first time.
