Unique design and high-quality components
The Diem X-01 stands out visually from familiar models from other manufacturers. Clean lines, a single-beam frame, and an axial flux electric motor in the rear wheel hub define its appearance. The motorcycle features a single-sided swing arm and deliberately dispenses with classic drive elements such as chains, sprockets, and gearboxes. This makes the X-01 virtually maintenance-free and clearly focuses on urban agility, ease of handling, and sustainability.
Diem Motors’ high standards are evident in the equipment: Brembo brakes, a Showa upside-down fork, LED lighting, and a TFT display are all standard features. The technical implementation is therefore both high-quality and well thought-out.
Performance and technology: Designed for the A2 class
The X-01 was developed specifically for the European A2 driving licence class. According to the manufacturer, the electric motor, which was developed in-house, delivers up to 47.5 hp (35 kW) at maximum output. The torque values have not yet been communicated, but experience shows that the torque of electric motors is fully available even at low speeds. This makes the X-01 particularly interesting for city traffic.
The battery is also manufactured by Diem Motors itself. This is another unique selling point, as many start-ups often rely on purchased components. However, no information on range, capacity, or charging times is available yet.
Market launch and price still open
So far, there is neither an official sales price nor a specific date for the market launch. The X-01 was first shown in January at the MBE trade fair in Verona, followed by another presentation in Berlin. Diem Motors is thus attracting attention, but remains cautious about the most important questions.
The company emphasizes its focus on vertical integration and lean production. It remains to be seen whether this concept will work in the long term. All too often, ambitious electric motorcycle projects have failed due to high costs or lack of demand.
Conclusion: A promising concept with an open outcome
The Diem X-01 exemplifies the new approach of many electric motorcycle manufacturers: fewer spectacular records, but more everyday practicality and independent design. With high-quality components, sophisticated technology, and a clear focus on urban mobility, the start-up is showing that it wants more than just a prototype for the showroom.
It remains to be seen whether the X-01 will actually make it into series production. One thing is certain: Diem Motors is bringing a breath of fresh air to the scene and setting a benchmark for independent electric motorcycles – far removed from exaggerated promises and short-lived hype.
