- Market launch: early 2027
- New rear tyre tread pattern for higher mileage and less rolling noise
- Sizes, prices and mileage figures have not been announced yet
On 4 November 2026, Pirelli announced the Angel GT III as the successor to the Angel GT II. The radial tyre is aimed at riders who spend a lot of time touring but still want a sporty feel on twisty roads. Pirelli promises lighter handling, more safety on wet roads and riding behaviour that changes less as the tyre wears. The new tyre differs most clearly from the other models in the Angel family at the rear wheel.

What is new about the rear tyre of the Pirelli Angel GT III?
The rear tyre of the Angel GT III gets a new tread pattern that is designed to deliver higher mileage and roll more quietly. According to Pirelli, this sets it apart from the other tyres in the Angel family.
Rolling noise is the sound a tyre makes as it rolls over the asphalt. On a short ride you hardly notice it. On a long day in the saddle, however, it is there all the time. A quieter rear tyre is therefore meant to reduce fatigue. Pirelli sees this not only as a gain in comfort but also in control over the motorcycle, because a rested rider is a safer rider.
Pirelli has not yet said by how much mileage is supposed to increase. Specific figures on the noise reduction are also still missing.
How is the Angel GT III supposed to ride?
Pirelli has designed the tyre primarily for lighter handling. The motorcycle should move through corners more intuitively and with less effort, both in everyday riding and on long trips.
At the same time, the manufacturer does not want to give up the sporty character of the Angel range. Precise turn-in, direct feedback and stability at a brisk pace are meant to be retained. The Angel GT III is therefore not intended as a pure comfort tyre but is supposed to combine both worlds.
More safety in the wet
Pirelli has placed another focus on behaviour in the rain. On wet roads and other slippery surfaces, the tyre is supposed to provide more confidence and control than previous generations. There are no measured values or comparison test results on this yet.

What happens as the Angel GT III wears?
The Angel GT III is supposed to retain its handling characteristics more consistently than its predecessors as it wears. This should keep its riding behaviour predictable over its entire service life.
Every motorcycle tyre changes as the tread wears down. For high-mileage riders, what matters is not only how a tyre feels right after fitting, but also after a few thousand kilometres. According to Pirelli, it is precisely this area that it has improved through extensive development work.
From Angel ST to GT III: the evolution of the tyre family
The Angel range has been around for about 15 years. It started with the Angel ST, followed by the Angel GT and, in April 2019, the Angel GT II. Pirelli counts sport touring radial tyres among the most important segments in the European market.
The direct predecessor brought several technical innovations at the time. The carcass, the load-bearing structure of the tyre, had a cord density on the GT II that varied across the tyre’s cross-section. In addition, there were compounds with a high silica content and a tread pattern derived from intermediate racing tyres used in the Superbike World Championship. These are tyres for damp or drying tracks. Pirelli also wanted to improve the effectiveness of electronic rider aids. The GT II was available in 17 and 19 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear.
Pirelli has not yet provided any information on the construction and compounds of the Angel GT III. Whether the new generation develops this technology further or takes a different approach therefore remains open.

Which motorcycles is the Angel GT III intended for?
The Angel GT III has been developed for modern sport tourers, crossover models and naked bikes with medium and large displacement. It therefore covers motorcycles that are used in everyday riding as well as on trips and for sporty riding.
Visually, the tyre remains true to the Angel family. The new tread pattern picks up the familiar graphic elements of the range and redraws them. The high-contrast sidewall carries the Angel symbol and the lettering “Gran Turismo”. With this, Pirelli alludes to the Italian idea of fast, comfortable travel. The Angel GT III is thus one of the new products with which manufacturers are kicking off the 2027 motorcycle season.
When will the Pirelli Angel GT III arrive and what is still unknown?
The Pirelli Angel GT III is expected to be available in stores from early 2027. The manufacturer has not given a more precise date.
Important information for a purchase decision is still missing. Pirelli has published neither the tyre sizes nor the prices. Mileage figures for the increased service life and results from independent tests are not yet available either. How big the improvement over the Angel GT II really is can only be judged once the tyre is on the road.
