Superbike: Dunlop strikes

After rain during the night and in the morning, the track dried out in time for the final qualifying session.  Michael Dunlop, the record winner of the Tourist Trophy with 29 TT victories to his name, made the most of the improved conditions: on his MD Racing BMW motorcycle, the Northern Irishman set his fastest lap of the week at 132.003 mph (approx. 212.460 km/h) – and the fastest time in the Superbike category.

Superstock: Cummins goes one better

In the Superstock class, Conor Cummins took the lead on his BMW from Burrows Engineering/RK Racing.  At 129.835 mph (approx. 208.981 km/h), he demonstrated his ambitions for victory.

Supersport: Harrison with the fastest lap

Dean Harrison showed his class in Supersport practice: The Honda works rider topped the timesheet with 124.736 mph (approx. 200.748 km/h).  He relegated Mike Browne (124.272 mph) and Michael Evans (123.280 mph) to second place.

Supertwin: Paul Jordan in the lead

In the Supertwin class, Paul Jordan on the Jackson Racing Aprilia powered by Prosper2 was unbeatable.  With a lap of 118.584 mph (approx. 190.909 km/h), he was just ahead of Adam McLean (118.257 mph) and Barry Furber (117.913 mph).

Sidecar: The Crowe brothers dominate

A changed starting order sent the sidecars onto the track first in the afternoon.  Despite still damp patches in areas such as Greeba Castle, Ballaspur and the Ramsey Hairpin, Ryan and Callum Crowe delivered an impressive performance.  With a top time of 119.337 mph (approx. 192.014 km/h) on their Opul/Kelproperties LCR Honda, they clearly set themselves apart from the competition – thanks in part to the day’s top speed through the Sulby Speedtrap at 162.332 mph (approx. 261.232 km/h).

The pursuers: Founds/Walmsley (115.843 mph), Birchall/Rosney (115.198 mph), Crawford/Hardie (115.103 mph), Blackstock/Lawrence (112.789 mph) and Ellis/Clement (111.314 mph).

Encouragingly, several newcomers improved significantly.  Clarke/Johnson broke through the 110 mph barrier for the first time with 113.040 mph, as did Kershaw/Gibbons (110.577 mph) and Holden/Wilkes (110.048 mph).  The Belgian duo Renzo and Vale van der Donckt also improved their time with 107.713 mph.

However, an incident caused the session to be aborted prematurely: the Founds/Walmsley pairing crashed in Rhencullen.  Driver Pete Founds suffered arm injuries, co-driver Jevan Walmsley was unhurt.

Combined session: Dunlop continues to improve

After a brief rain shower, a combined session for Superbikes, Superstock and Supersport got underway at 16:20.  Michael Dunlop came out on top again – with a first lap of 131.683 mph (approx. 211.951 km/h), followed by Dean Harrison (130.666 mph), Davey Todd (129.812 mph), Nathan Harrison (129.652 mph), Shaun Anderson (128.965 mph) and Rob Hodson (128.798 mph).  Josh Brookes set his fastest lap of the week at 128.359 mph.

Mike Browne initially led the Superstock field with 129.697 mph, but was later beaten by Conor Cummins, who added 129.835 mph on his second lap.  In the Supersport classification, James Hillier initially took the lead with 123.021 mph, but was overtaken by Dean Harrison (124.736 mph) and Mike Browne (124.272 mph).

Several riders changed bikes during the session, including Harrison, Brookes and Hillier.  Hodson put in a strong second lap on his Superbike machine at 129.135 mph.

Supertwin conclusion: Jordan remains in front

The day concluded with the Supertwin session at 17:00.  Jordan remained in front with his previous best time of 118.584 mph.  He was followed by Adam McLean (118.257 mph), Barry Furber (117.913 mph), Mike Browne (117.302 mph), Davey Todd (116.522 mph) and Andrea Majola (116.207 mph).

Outlook: Race day can come

On Monday, June 2, 2025, the racing action on the Isle of Man begins with the RST x D3O Superbike TT.  This will be followed by the 3wheeling.media Sidecar TT Race 1 and the first Monster Energy Supersport TT race.  After the results of the last qualifying session, we can look forward to an exciting opening race – with a strong Michael Dunlop in the role of favorite.
