Following the market launch of the F77 MACH 2 RECON and the F77 SUPERSTREET RECON last year, Ultraviolette is stepping up its game at the International Motorcycle Exhibition (IMOT) in Munich. With the X-47 Crossover, the Indian manufacturer is introducing a new model that is designed to prove itself as an electric crossover motorcycle in both city traffic and off-road. Special attention is being paid to an integrated radar system, which, according to Ultraviolette, is unique in this vehicle segment.

UV HyperSense: Sixth-generation radar system

The technological core of the X-47 Crossover is a system called UV HyperSense. Ultraviolet describes it as the world’s first integrated intelligent radar system for motorcycles. It combines sixth-generation long-range radar technology with the manufacturer’s in-house vehicle control unit. The aim of the system is to significantly improve driving safety by continuously monitoring the motorcycle’s surroundings. The radar technology is supplemented by an integrated camera.

However, Ultraviolet does not provide any specific details on how the system works, such as warning functions, distance detection, or possible interventions in driving dynamics, in its current announcement.

Chassis and assistance systems

The X-47 Crossover features an upright seating position and rider-centric ergonomics designed to work both on long journeys and in urban environments. The motorcycle comes with a 9-stage regenerative braking system with dynamic energy recovery, supplemented by 3-stage traction control.

In addition, Ultraviolette has integrated a function called Dynamic Stability Control (UV DSC). This is designed to coordinate the recuperation stages with the dual-channel ABS in such a way that full control and stability are always guaranteed during light, active, and emergency braking. A hill start function keeps the motorcycle in position on inclines without the need to apply the brakes continuously.

Onboard charger developed in-house

Ultraviolette also highlights the X-47 Crossover’s integrated onboard charger with air cooling. According to the manufacturer, this was developed, designed, and manufactured entirely in-house. Further details on charging performance or battery capacity are not currently available.

Background: Ultraviolette and the European market

Ultraviolette was founded in 2016 by Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan. The company is backed by a number of international investors, including Lingotto (a subsidiary of Exor N.V.), Qualcomm Ventures, Zoho Corporation, TVS Motors, TDK Ventures, and Speciale Invest.

At the unveiling, Narayan Subramaniam said that Germany, as the cradle of automotive excellence and engineering, was a deliberately chosen location for the presentation. The presentation of the X-47 crossover at IMOT underscores the goal of bringing advanced mobility solutions to the markets that have shaped the motorcycle world.

European sales are handled by Zero Center, which acts as the exclusive distributor for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy. Mathias Mittmann, CEO of Zero Center, described the X-47 as an important milestone for electric mobility in Europe. The integrated radar system introduces a new level of driver awareness and safety, reflecting the growing demand for advanced technology in modern mobility.

F77 introductory offer extended in Germany

Alongside the launch of the X-47 crossover, Ultraviolette has announced that it is extending the introductory offer for the F77 models in Germany. Due to high demand, according to the manufacturer, the F77 models will continue to be available from €8,990 (approximately $9,405). No information has been provided as to when the offer will end.

Ultraviolette has not yet provided any information on prices, specific technical data, or a market launch date for the X-47 Crossover itself.

What this means for motorcyclists

With the X-47 crossover, Ultraviolette is launching a concept that has not been available in this combination in the electric segment until now. An electric crossover motorcycle with an integrated radar system could be particularly interesting for riders who are on the road both in everyday life and on cross-country routes and do not want to do without modern safety technology. The combination of an upright seating position, a nine-stage regenerative braking system, traction control, and UV HyperSense radar suggests a vehicle that attempts to strike a balance between versatility and technological sophistication. However, key information is currently still missing: the performance, range, battery capacity, weight, and, above all, the price of the X-47 Crossover are not yet known. Without this data, it is difficult to assess how suitable the motorcycle actually is for everyday use and whether it can compete with established models in the crossover segment. Anyone interested in the X-47 will therefore have to wait for further announcements from Ultraviolette or Zero Center.
