Zero Motorcycles relocates global headquarters to Europe: New focus in the Netherlands

Zero Motorcycles, previously firmly rooted in Scotts Valley, California, has announced a strategic realignment. The pioneer in electric motorcycles plans to relocate its key global corporate functions from its current US headquarters to the Netherlands. This will make the Dutch office near Amsterdam the manufacturer’s new global headquarters.

Europe as a growth market for electric motorcycles

This step is a direct response to the momentum of the European market for electric mobility. According to Zero Motorcycles, Europe has become the company’s strongest sales market in recent years. The reasons for this are steadily growing sales figures, the rapid expansion of the charging infrastructure, and a policy that consistently promotes the electrification of road traffic.

By centralizing key areas such as management, sales, and international coordination in the Netherlands, the company aims to increase its responsiveness to customer requests and improve collaboration within the company. Zero Motorcycles emphasizes that this measure is intended to help it respond flexibly and quickly to the demands of the European market.

CEO Sam Paschel: “A decisive moment for the brand”

CEO Sam Paschel describes the relocation as a milestone for the company. He says: “Zero has led the electric motorcycle category for nearly two decades. With Europe setting the pace for the adoption of electric vehicles, moving key headquarters functions to the Netherlands will allow us to respond more quickly to customer needs and strengthen our global operations. It’s about focus, discipline, and ensuring that we lead the transformation of the powersports industry.”

Development and innovation remain in California

Despite the relocation of its global headquarters, Zero Motorcycles’ innovation department will remain based in California. The research, development, and engineering team will continue to work at the Scotts Valley site, driving technological development and the development of high-performance electric motorcycles and drive systems. The company emphasizes that its commitment to the US market and its Californian roots will continue to play an important role.

Investment of US$50 million to support the restructuring

The restructuring is being supported by an investment of US$50 million (approximately €47.5 million) from Zero Motorcycles’ main shareholder. This move is intended to underscore long-term confidence in the manufacturer’s strategy and leadership position in the electric motorcycle sector.

Paschel concludes: “Our brand, our technology, and our global reach give us unparalleled credibility and capabilities. Coordinating our global headquarters functions in Europe will ensure that we maintain clear leadership in the electric motorcycle sector and lay the foundation for the most exciting chapter in the company’s history.”

Conclusion: Europe at the center of Zero’s strategy

By relocating its headquarters to Europe, Zero Motorcycles is sending a clear signal: the European market has become a central element of its global growth strategy. The Netherlands is now the hub of its global activities, while innovation and development continue to take place in California.
