Who is Benda?
Benda is a Chinese motorcycle brand that aims to stand out from the competition with eye-catching and unconventional designs. It became known for models such as the LFC700, a futuristic power cruiser with a wide 310 rear tire, or the Darkflag, a cruiser interpretation with a V4 engine. Now Benda is bringing a new bobber into play with the Napoleonbob 500 – a model that attracts attention with its compact dimensions and classic design.
Performance and technology
The Napoleonbob 500 is powered by a 475.6 cm³, liquid-cooled V2 engine. The power output is 47 hp (34.6 kW), while the maximum torque is 42 Nm. Shifting is via a six-speed gearbox with an anti-hopping clutch, which is intended to ensure greater stability, especially when downshifting hard.
Chassis and brakes
For the suspension, Benda relies on a telescopic fork with 100 mm travel at the front. The attached plastic covers may make it look different, but it is actually a classic design. An adjustable monoshock is used at the rear, although it is very short with only 30 mm travel.
Braking is provided by a 320 mm disc at the front and a 260 mm disc at the rear. ABS is fitted as standard. The 16-inch wheels are fitted with wide tires: 150/80 at the front and 180/65 at the rear.
Equipment and weight
Visually, the Napoleonbob 500 remains true to its bobber line: a round LED front light, a free-standing TFT display in the middle of the handlebars and illuminated switches are part of the equipment. With a fully fueled weight of 214 kg (473 lbs), it is within the usual range for this class.
Price and market positioning
The price is particularly striking: 6,399 US dollars (approx. 5,950 euros or 46,500 CNY). This puts the Napoleonbob 500 in an attractive range in which Chinese manufacturers are trying to win over customers with good features and a lower price. The question is whether buyers will turn away from established models such as the Honda Rebel or the Kawasaki Eliminator and opt for a still relatively unknown brand such as Benda.
Whether the new Benda bobber can actually gain a foothold remains to be seen.
