Benda is bringing the Dark Flag 950 to the first European dealers from the end of November 2026. The cruiser relies on a 948 cc V4 with around 109 hp, in a class where a V2 is almost always found.
  • 948 cc V4 with 108.8 hp (80 kW) and 85 Nm
  • 690 mm seat height, 242 kg ready to ride, Brembo brakes
  • European premiere at EICMA on 3 November 2026

The Dark Flag 950 is not entirely new. Benda already showed the V4 cruiser at EICMA 2025 in Milan, presenting it there as the flagship of its own cruiser range. According to the manufacturer, it is the first V4 cruiser from China with almost one litre of displacement. Price and launch date remained open at the time. Now BENDA Motor Europe GmbH, based in Salzburg, has provided the data for Europe and named a date. The Dark Flag 950 is set to be available in the first European markets from the end of November 2026, making it one of the new motorcycles for the 2027 season.

What engine powers the Benda Dark Flag 950?

The Dark Flag 950 is powered by a liquid-cooled 948 cc V4 with 16 valves. According to the manufacturer, it produces 108.8 hp (80 kW) at 9,000 rpm and 85 Nm (62.7 lb-ft) at 8,000 rpm.

Benda develops the engine in-house and internally calls it the V4 Litre Power Platform. The two cylinder banks are set at an angle of 60 degrees to each other. Bore and stroke measure 67 by 67.2 mm, so the engine is very slightly undersquare. The compression ratio is 12.2:1. Two overhead camshafts per cylinder bank operate four valves per cylinder, and the pistons are forged.

The rider controls the throttle via an electronic ride-by-wire system, with no throttle cable running to the throttle body. Benda describes this as the second generation of its system. The engine meets the Euro 5+ emissions standard. CO2 emissions are quoted at 133 g/km and noise at 105 dB(A).

For a cruiser, this is an unusual choice. The segment is dominated by large twins with plenty of low-down torque. The Dark Flag 950’s V4, by contrast, only reaches its peak figures at high revs. Benda promises smooth power delivery and direct response under acceleration. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is said to take 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of around 190 km/h.

What is behind the idle shutdown?

The Dark Flag 950 has a function Benda calls Idle Shutdown Technology. According to the manufacturer, it automatically shuts down at idle to reduce heat and fuel consumption.

In the information for Europe, Benda only refers in general terms to an automatic shutdown at idle. At the presentation at EICMA 2025, however, the system was described as cylinder deactivation. According to that description, the electronics shut down two of the four cylinders when stationary and under low load. This is meant to relieve the rider’s legs, especially in city traffic and on hot days, as a large V4 gives off a lot of heat. Exactly how the system works in the European version is not yet known in detail.

Drivetrain: toothed belt and anti-hopping clutch

Power reaches the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox and a toothed belt. The belt runs smoothly and quietly and is meant to reduce regular maintenance.

The multi-plate oil-bath clutch has an anti-hopping function. It prevents the rear wheel from hopping, i.e. briefly locking and bouncing, during quick downshifts. This is meant to keep the bike stable under hard braking. The manufacturer does not mention an automatic clutch, as Benda offers on the Rock 707, for the Dark Flag 950.

Chassis and brakes: how is the Dark Flag 950 built?

The Dark Flag 950 uses a tubular steel frame and a steel swingarm. An upside-down fork works at the front, while two hydraulically damped shock absorbers are fitted at the rear.

An upside-down fork is an inverted telescopic fork with the thicker tubes at the top. Benda does not mention any adjustment options on the fork. The rear shocks are said to be adjustable for spring preload. The Dark Flag 950 does not get electronic air suspension like the Rock 707.

The brakes come from Brembo. At the front, two 320 mm discs are gripped by radially mounted four-piston calipers with 32 mm pistons. At the rear sits a 260 mm disc with a radially mounted two-piston caliper and 34 mm pistons. The master cylinders are also said to come from Brembo. ABS and traction control are standard and can be switched off.

Both wheels are 16 inches. The front tyre is a 130/90-16, the rear a 180/65-16. The 2025 show bike was fitted with CST tyres.

How big and how heavy is the Benda Dark Flag 950?

The Dark Flag 950 weighs 242 kg (533.5 lbs) ready to ride. The seat height is 690 mm and the wheelbase 1,590 mm.

The bike is 2,330 mm long, 910 mm wide and 1,100 mm high. The tank holds 16 litres. The low seat height is meant to make manoeuvring easier and help riders get both feet firmly on the ground when stopping. With a weight of just over 240 kg, this matters above all when parking and in stop-and-go traffic.

Ergonomics and design

The footrests and pedals are positioned well forward and the handlebar is wide. This gives the rider a relaxed, slightly reclined seating position, as is typical of classic cruisers.

Visually, the Dark Flag 950 sticks to familiar cruiser proportions. The silhouette is low and long. Added to this are a sculpted teardrop tank, a cleanly designed tail, wide tyres and two stacked black silencers. A leather strap with embossing and a buckle sits on the tank. The rider and passenger seats are separate and feature decorative stitching. At the front is an LED headlight with its own light signature, at the rear a continuous LED tail light.

What equipment does the Dark Flag 950 offer for longer trips?

For longer distances, the Dark Flag 950 has cruise control that holds the selected speed at the push of a button. Added to this are a passenger seat with its own footrests, USB-A and USB-C charging ports and a round instrument with a colour display.

The TFT display measures 3.6 inches. It shines with 800 nits and is said to be easy to read from an angle of 120 degrees. At the 2025 presentation, Benda also mentioned tyre pressure monitoring. Benda explicitly sees the machine as a motorcycle for two people and for longer trips, with the 16-litre tank and the relaxed seating position meant to provide the basis for this.

Where does the Benda Dark Flag 950 fit in the cruiser segment?

The Dark Flag 950 positions itself as an alternative to classic V2 cruisers. With its V4, it is reminiscent of power cruisers such as the Yamaha VMAX or the Ducati Diavel V4.

The Benda shares its engine layout with both models. However, it is styled much more classically and is less focused on outright performance. The Indian Scout Classic is also a suitable comparison. Its 1,250 cc V2 produces around 106 hp (78 kW) and 111 Nm (82 lb-ft), reaching these figures at lower revs. The Indian weighs 252 kg (555 lbs) ready to ride. The Benda therefore offers similar power with slightly less weight, but less torque.

Benda has been going its own way in the cruiser segment for several years. Its models include the LFC 700 with an inline four and the Napoleonbob 500. At EICMA 2025, alongside the Dark Flag 950, the manufacturer also presented the Rock 707 with a V2 and electronic clutch, as well as the Rock 250 CVT with a continuously variable transmission.

Constantin Heinemann, Head of Marketing Europe at BENDA Motor Europe GmbH, puts the model into context: “The Dark Flag 950 shows our ambition to give new impetus to the cruiser segment. Its V4 engine combines performance and refinement in a unique way, while design and technology reinterpret the classic cruiser. It is another important step in expanding our European motorcycle portfolio.”

When is the Benda Dark Flag 950 coming to Europe?

The Dark Flag 950 is due to be launched in the first European markets from the end of November 2026. Benda has not yet said which countries will be supplied first.

Before that comes its appearance at EICMA in Milan. Benda will present the Dark Flag 950 there on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, at 15:45 as part of its press conference, together with the brand’s new motorcycle range. The stand is located in Hall 18, Stand A54. Availability may vary depending on the market. Interested buyers should be able to get further information from Benda dealers.

Which colours are available?

Benda lists three colours for the Dark Flag 950: Obsidian Black, Glimmering White and Burgundy Red. In the technical data, the manufacturer additionally lists Mountain Silver and Prism Grey. Which colours are available in which country may vary by market.

How much does the Dark Flag 950 cost?

Benda has not yet announced a price for any market.
