- Two independent projects: a feature film and an accompanying docu-series
- The feature film “Isle of Man” starts filming during race week 2026
- The four-part docu-series was already filmed during the TT 2024 and is in post-production
Two independent film projects are currently being developed around the Tourist Trophy on the Isle of Man, which Amazon MGM Studios acquired together as a package in 2025. It is explicitly not a single format, but two separate productions with different schedules, teams and narrative approaches. One part is a big feature film with the working title “Isle of Man”, whose shoot will only begin during race week 2026. The other part is a docu-series whose material was already shot during the TT 2024 and which is currently in post-production.

Two projects, one package: what exactly is being produced?
To avoid misunderstandings, a clear separation of the two projects is worthwhile. Amazon MGM Studios has secured the rights to a double package that comprises two different formats.
The feature film “Isle of Man” is a classic cinema piece with a Hollywood cast, a fixed script, a feature film director and a staged plot. Filming only starts during the TT 2026. Alongside it, there is a four-part docu-series that was conceived independently of the feature film, works in a documentary style and was already recorded at real races in 2024. The series is not a making-of of the film, but an independent insight into the actual TT events.
Both productions share part of the producer team and the common topic, but they are independent works with different distribution paths. A concrete release date for the film or the series has not yet been announced.
The feature film: filming starts at the TT 2026
The first production is the feature film with the working title “Isle of Man”. Amazon MGM Studios is positioning it as a large-budget cinema project. Filming starts during TT 2026 race week on the island and is intended to bring the real atmosphere of the event directly to the big screen.
Two well-known Hollywood names are in the leading roles. Channing Tatum, 45 years old, takes on one of the leading roles. He became famous through the Magic Mike series, 21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie, The Hateful Eight, Free Guy and Deadpool & Wolverine. At his side plays Irish actress Eve Hewson, daughter of U2 singer Bono. The 34-year-old became known through the series The Knick as well as through Bad Sisters and The Perfect Couple. She can also be seen in the upcoming Spielberg film Disclosure Day, which hits cinemas on June 12. What roles Tatum and Hewson will play exactly in the TT film has not been officially confirmed. Industry media assume that one or both of them will portray TT riders.
Direction and screenplay
Directing is Reid Carolin, who previously directed the feature film “Dog”. Carolin has been working closely with Tatum for years; together they run the production company Free Association. Carolin had previously written the screenplay for the Magic Mike series.
The screenplay for “Isle of Man” comes from a three-person team. Carolin wrote it together with Jason Keller, who also wrote the screenplay for the racing drama Ford v Ferrari (known in Germany as Le Mans 66 – Gegen jede Chance). The third writer is Bryan Johnson. Keller is also involved as a producer.
Producers behind the feature film
Behind the feature film stands an alliance of several production companies. Free Association by Tatum and Carolin works together with Brad Pitt’s Plan B and Entertainment 360 with Guymon Casady and Jason Keller. Entertainment 360 had originally acquired the rights to the material and brought the partners together.

The docu-series: material already comes from the TT 2024
Independently of the feature film, a four-part docu-series is being created, which was filmed considerably earlier. The recordings for it were already made during the Tourist Trophy 2024. Through an exclusive partnership with the organisers, the producers had far-reaching access to riders, teams and the organisational apparatus.
Each of the four episodes runs about 45 minutes. In terms of content, it is not about fictional characters, but about real protagonists of the event. The series aims to explore what moves riders to expose themselves to this risk, and what role family, team and tradition play in it. Triumphs and setbacks of the race are equally part of the story.
The docu-series is therefore an independent work and not accompanying material for the feature film. The fact that the recordings are from 2024 is important here: riders, teams and race situations correspond to the state of 2024 and not to the current 2026 season.
Documentary production with a specialised partner
The series is produced by the same circle as the feature film, complemented by two additional partners. Box to Box Films is responsible for the documentary core craft. The British production company is known for successful sports docu-series such as Formula 1: Drive to Survive, Full Swing and Tour de France: Unchained. In addition, there is the European studio Mediawan, which has co-produced series such as Call My Agent, The Count of Monte Cristo and Miraculous.
Voices from Isle of Man politics
The island government closely accompanies both projects. Sarah Maltby, Member of the House of Keys with responsibility for motorsport and tourism, speaks of the TT having always been one of the most important assets of the island, an event with a unique identity and international reputation. Projects of this scale could create lasting value, strengthen the awareness of the travel destination and help more people discover what makes the Isle of Man special.
Paul Phillips, Head of Motorsport in the Department for Enterprise, especially emphasises authenticity. The TT has an extraordinary story to tell, and the special thing is that the filming of the feature film begins right at the event itself, with a real atmosphere and against the backdrop of the island. The reach of such a project goes far beyond motorsport.
The organisers also emphasise that the filming during the TT 2026 will take place in close coordination with the organisers. Safety, race operations and the experience of participants, officials, residents and fans should remain a priority.

The TT transforming into a global media event
The Tourist Trophy is the oldest continuously held motorsport event in the world and has been run on public roads since 1907. Unlike MotoGP, the Superbike World Championship or Formula 1, the TT does not take place on closed race tracks, but on closed country roads. Top speeds of up to around 300 kilometres per hour (roughly 186 miles per hour) are not uncommon.
For a long time, the TT was mainly an event for enthusiasts who made the trip to the island or followed the races by radio. Only with the launch of the live stream service TT+ in 2022 did that change. Since then, all practice sessions and races are broadcast in full length. In combination with an expanded social media strategy, interest in the TT has noticeably intensified; online search queries for the event have doubled within two years. With the announced feature film and the docu-series, two more building blocks are now in place that could make the event more visible internationally.
