Classic Legends has shown the Jawa 42 Bobber in a new All Stars version. Prices start at 208,942 rupees (around 1,897 euros / 2,203 US dollars), while the technology remains unchanged.
  • Unveiled on 5 September 2026 at the Global Chess League in Bengaluru
  • Five colours, price range from 208,942 to 219,942 rupees (around 1,897 to 1,997 euros / 2,203 to 2,319 US dollars)
  • 334 cubic centimetres, 29.9 hp (22 kW), 30 Nm, unchanged from the standard model

Jawa belongs to Classic Legends, a company within the Mahindra Group. That is precisely why Anand Mahindra, chairman of the Mahindra Group, handled the unveiling himself. It did not take place at a motorcycle show, but at a chess tournament. The Global Chess League 2026 in Bengaluru provided the stage for a model that, according to the manufacturer, is meant to carry the same idea as the game: individual decisions within shared rules. What remains in the end is a motorcycle that differs from the standard version only in paint, graphics and badge.

What sets the All Stars edition apart from the standard 42 Bobber?

The All Stars edition is a purely cosmetic variant. Engine, frame, suspension and brakes are identical to those of the standard version.

What is new are the colours, chequered graphics and an All Stars badge. The chequered pattern references both the chessboard and the chequered flag in racing. The most eye-catching addition is the Silver Knight colour, whose pattern, according to the manufacturer, grew out of exactly this double meaning. Shadow Black, by contrast, relies on a matt black that visually pushes the floating single seat further into the foreground.

The basic shape remains untouched: low-slung build, round headlight, a single circular instrument and bar-end mirrors. The single seat sits on a cantilever construction, which makes it look as though it were floating above the rear wheel. According to the manufacturer, the 42 Bobber was the first motorcycle in India developed from the ground up as a bobber, meaning a model with a shortened tail and a solo seat. In 2026 it received the „Style Icon of the Year“ award in India.

Which colours are available and what do they cost?

The 42 Bobber All Stars is available in five colours, with prices differing by up to 11,000 rupees, or around 100 euros. All figures are ex-showroom in New Delhi, excluding taxes and registration costs.

  • Mystic Copper: 208,942 rupees (around 1,897 euros / 2,203 US dollars)
  • Jasper Red: 215,942 rupees (around 1,961 euros / 2,277 US dollars)
  • Silver Knight: 215,942 rupees (around 1,961 euros / 2,277 US dollars)
  • Shadow Black: 217,942 rupees (around 1,979 euros / 2,298 US dollars)
  • Black Mirror: 219,942 rupees (around 1,997 euros / 2,319 US dollars)

Whether buyers in India actually pay what is on the price tag depends on the state. Registration fees vary regionally, which is why on-road prices can be considerably higher than the figures quoted.

What technology is in the 42 Bobber All Stars?

The model is powered by a 334 cubic centimetre single-cylinder engine with liquid cooling, double overhead camshafts and fuel injection. The manufacturer quotes 29.9 hp (22 kW) at 7,500 rpm and 30 Nm (22.1 lb-ft) of torque.

Jawa refers to the engine as the 350 Alpha 2. Power goes to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox with dog-ring shifting, joined by a slipper clutch. It prevents the rear wheel from chattering under hard downshifts. The compression ratio is 11 to 1, and a twin exhaust system sits at the rear.

One discrepancy in the manufacturer’s own documents is notable: the FAQ section of the official model page lists 32.74 Nm at 6,000 rpm, while the technical data sheet on the same page states 30 Nm. The data sheet is authoritative, and the current brochure supports it.

Chassis, brakes and dimensions

A double-cradle frame serves as the basis. At the front there is a telescopic fork with 35 millimetre stanchions, at the rear a gas-charged shock absorber whose preload can be adjusted in seven steps. Braking is handled by a 280 millimetre disc at the front and a 240 millimetre disc at the rear, with ABS acting on both wheels.

An 18-inch wheel with a 100/90 tyre runs at the front, a 17-incher with 140/70 at the rear. Seat height is 740 millimetres and weight is 177 kilograms (390 lbs). Add to that 145 millimetres of ground clearance, a wheelbase of 1,485 millimetres and a 12.5 litre tank. The low seating position is the core of the concept; the limited ground clearance is the flip side of it.

Where is the Jawa 42 Bobber All Stars sold?

Sales run through Jawa Yezdi dealers in India. The manufacturer has so far provided no information about other markets.

Included is the so-called Ownership Assurance Program. It covers four years or 50,000 kilometres of warranty, an extension to up to six years, up to eight years of roadside assistance and service contracts for up to five years. According to the manufacturer, more than 450 sales and service locations across the country are available for this.

How does the model fit into the All Stars line-up?

The 42 Bobber is the second model in the All Stars range, known internally as Strike Two. The series began in August 2026 with the 42 FJ, which Jawa listed as Strike One.

Behind the name sits a brand programme that Jawa, by its own account, builds around the ideas of character, attitude and courage. Choosing a chess tournament as the stage follows the same logic. Anand Mahindra said: “The Global Chess League has shown how individuality and collective purpose can exist side by side. Every player approaches the board with their own style yet contributes to something larger than themselves.”

For the Indian market, positioning below 350 cubic centimetres is no coincidence. This class sees the fiercest competition between Royal Enfield, Honda, Triumph and indeed Jawa, and here looks and price often matter more than performance figures. A special colour for a premium of around 100 euros is, in this environment, a cheap way of getting a familiar model talked about again.
