The Suzuki Hayabusa is heading into another model year. For 2027, the manufacturer is showing three new paint finishes in the United States and adding a new Special Edition to the lineup. The motorcycle itself remains unchanged. The surcharge for the special version goes entirely into its appearance. That places the Hayabusa alongside a whole series of new Suzuki models for the 2027 model year, while it remains technically what it has been for years.

What’s new on the Suzuki Hayabusa for 2027?

The only new items for 2027 are the colors. Suzuki offers the Hayabusa in the United States in two standard paint finishes and one Special Edition, while the technology remains unchanged.

The two standard colors are called Glass Sparkle Black, a solid black, and Metallic Reflective Blue, a deep blue with a slight purple tinge. Above that sits the Special Edition with an exclusive white-and-gray paint scheme. Suzuki does not list any mechanical updates for the 2027 model year. It is purely about appearance.

The Special Edition starts at 20,399 US dollars (about 17,900 euros) in the United States. The standard version starts at 19,699 US dollars (about 17,280 euros), meaning the surcharge for the special version is 700 US dollars (about 615 euros).

On top of that, a freight charge of 750 US dollars (about 660 euros) applies in the United States. For the surcharge, the buyer does not get more power, a lighter chassis or a special engine tune, but rather the exclusive paint along with the matching add-on parts.

What sets the Special Edition apart from the standard model?

The Special Edition differs from the standard model purely in appearance. It wears the Pearl Brilliant White paint combined with Metallic Oort Gray No.3 and red accents.

The package includes a snow-white base coat with red decals, a light gray center stripe and an engine cowl in anthracite with red wheels. Added to that are the familiar Hayabusa lettering on the side fairings, a raised Suzuki emblem on the tank, and black end caps on the exhaust system. A color-matched solo seat cowl is included as standard. It replaces the passenger seat and grab handle while also serving as a back rest. The two standard colors do without this accessory.

What technology powers the Hayabusa 2027?

Technically, the Hayabusa 2027 is unchanged from the known model. Power comes from the 1,340 cc inline-four engine producing 190 hp (140 kW) at 9,700 rpm and up to 150 Nm (111 lb-ft) of torque at 7,000 rpm.

The DOHC engine uses electronic throttle control (ride-by-wire), additional injectors for more pressure in the low and mid range, and the familiar Ram Air intakes at the front. Top speed is around 295 km/h (183 mph). Suzuki lists the curb weight at 264 kg (582 lb). A lighter lithium-ion battery from ELIIY Power is used. Bore and stroke are 81.0 by 65.0 millimeters, with a compression ratio of 12.5:1. Braking is handled up front by four-piston Brembo Stylema calipers with two 320 mm discs, and at the rear by a single-piston caliper with a 260 mm disc. The chassis comes from KYB, with an upside-down fork up front and a central shock at the rear.

What rider aids does the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System offer?

The Hayabusa uses the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System, or S.I.R.S. for short. It bundles the electronic rider aids and relies on a sensor unit that measures the motorcycle’s lean angle.

These include several ride modes with three-stage power delivery, lean-angle-sensitive traction control, a ten-stage anti-lift control, launch control for starts, three-stage engine brake control, cruise control, and a bidirectional quickshifter for clutchless up- and downshifts. The lean-angle-sensitive ABS uses data from the sensor unit and also intervenes in corners. According to Suzuki, the cruise control setting is now retained even when the rider changes gear using the quickshifter. The package is rounded out by, among other things, a combined braking system, a hill hold control and a speed limiter.

Is the Special Edition coming to Germany too?

Whether the new US colors will make it to Germany has not yet been announced. Suzuki has so far shown the three paint finishes only for the US market.

In Germany, the Hayabusa is currently available starting at 19,979 euros (about 22,780 US dollars). The local Special Edition starts at 20,479 euros (about 23,350 US dollars), the Power Edition at 21,979 euros (about 25,060 US dollars) and the Special Edition Power Edition at 22,479 euros (about 25,630 US dollars). The German special versions carry their own colors and thus differ from the white-and-gray US variant. Historically, the model line is closely tied to the 300 km/h mark: the first Hayabusa appeared in 1999 as the GSX 1300 R and is considered the first production motorcycle to exceed 300 km/h (186 mph).
