Triumph launches Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer Edition for 2026

Triumph is expanding the Speed Twin series with a strictly limited edition Cafe Racer variant. The Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer Edition combines classic racing looks with the renowned technology of the Speed Twin 1200 RS.
  • Limited to 800 motorcycles worldwide
  • Based on: Speed Twin 1200 RS with unchanged technology
  • Market launch from March 2026

The new Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer Edition is currently the sportiest member of the Speed Twin family. The model draws on the aesthetics of British cafe racers from the 1960s and combines them with modern chassis technology, the latest electronics, and high-quality workmanship. It is based on the Speed Twin 1200 RS, whose technical platform Triumph has fully utilized.

Limited special edition with a clear focus

The Cafe Racer Edition is limited to 800 units worldwide. Each motorcycle comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity documenting its special status. Technically, the model remains identical to the Speed Twin 1200 RS, but differs significantly in terms of ergonomics and design.

The most important changes include low-mounted clip-on handlebars, the omission of the standard passenger footrests, and a brown bullet seat with removable cover. The passenger footrests are included and can be retrofitted if required.

Cafe racer look with attention to detail

The appearance is consistently designed for a classic single-seater look. Bar-end mirrors, ribbed emblems on the clutch and alternator covers, black screw covers on the cylinder head, and molded knee pads underline the purist appearance.

The exclusive paintwork in Competition Green and Aluminum Silver is particularly striking. The design is complemented by Aluminum Silver rims, a color-coordinated headlight housing, and a hand-drawn Empire Gold trim line. The side panels feature a stylized number 12 graphic.

Chassis and brakes at RS level

As with the Speed Twin 1200 RS, Triumph has opted for high-quality components here too. At the front is a fully adjustable Marzocchi upside-down fork with 120 mm of travel. At the rear are Öhlins shock absorbers with external reservoirs and 123 mm of travel.

The braking system consists of two 320 mm discs with radially mounted Brembo Stylema M4.30 calipers at the front and a 220 mm disc with Nissin two-piston caliper at the rear. Metzeler Racetec RR K3 tires are fitted as standard.

Bonneville engine with sporty tuning

The Cafe Racer Edition is powered by the well-known Bonneville 1200 parallel twin. The liquid-cooled two-cylinder engine with 270-degree firing order delivers 105 hp (77.2 kW) at 7,750 rpm and develops a maximum torque of 112 Nm at 4,250 rpm. The rev limit is 8,000 rpm.

Power is transmitted via a 6-speed gearbox with Triumph Shift Assist for clutchless upshifting and downshifting. The engine is characterized by direct response and smooth power delivery across the entire rev range.

Electronics and display

Road, Rain, and Sport riding modes are included as standard equipment. Cornering ABS and traction control are also on board, as is the bidirectional shift assist.

The instrument unit combines an LCD multifunction display with an integrated TFT screen in a classic round housing. Smartphone connectivity, arrow navigation, and a USB-C charging port are supported.

Dimensions and weight

The seat height is 810 mm and the wheelbase is 1,414 mm. The ready-to-ride weight is stated as 216 kg, which corresponds to approximately 476 lbs. The tank capacity is 14.5 liters. The steering head angle is 22.6 degrees and the trail is 92 mm.

Market launch and price

The Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer Edition is expected to be available at dealers from March 2026. The price in Germany is €17,995 (approximately $19,600) and in the UK £15,995. Several markets will use Triumph Motorcycles’ new reservation system, which allows interested parties to secure a vehicle early on.

Classification

With the Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer Edition, Triumph is positioning an exclusive model at the top of the Speed Twin range. The combination of unchanged RS technology, classic seating position, and detailed design is aimed at riders who are looking for a sporty orientation with historical references without sacrificing modern equipment.

What does this mean for me as a motorcyclist?

The Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer Edition is aimed at motorcyclists who value a sportier seating position, a minimalist appearance, and a clear reference to the classic cafe racer concept. The clip-on handlebars shift the seating position significantly forward, which puts more pressure on the front wheel and provides a more direct riding experience, especially on winding country roads. At the same time, the familiar technology of the Speed Twin 1200 RS remains fully intact, including high-quality suspension, powerful brakes, and modern electronics. Restrictions arise primarily in everyday use due to the standard single-seater look and the stronger focus on sporty riding. Those who are looking for a combination of exclusivity, classic looks, and modern riding dynamics and can live with limited availability will get a motorcycle with a clear character rather than a universal all-rounder.
