After Suzuki unveiled the GSX-S1000 earlier this year, there are hints that the GSX-S1000F will also get a successor. Here, the “F” is to become a “T”, which should clarify the touring-specific orientation.
Same basis
Type approval documents of the new model have surfaced on the Internet, in which some data of the future model can be found. However, a photo is still missing so far. The basis is the updated GSX-S1000 with the Euro5 trimmed four-cylinder. Engine and exhaust are said to be identical. The power figures of 152 PS at 11,000 rpm and 106 Nm at 9,250 rpm also remain unchanged.
The identical wheelbase of 1460 mm suggests that the frame and also the upside-down fork are identical.
T-Model slightly larger
The models will definitely differ in appearance. One can expect a fairing with a high windshield. In height, the GSX-S1000T is specified with 1215 mm, which is 135 mm higher than the GSX-S1000. However, the documentation also mentions an optional fairing that gives a height of 1280 mm. This suggests that either a higher windshield will be offered as an option or that the windshield will be adjustable in height.
In width, the touring model grows slightly to 825 mm, in length it is 25 mm longer. The touring orientation is also clearly noticeable in the weight. The GSX-S1000T is said to weigh 12 kg more and allow 20 kg more payload.
