KTM and MV Agusta have not only signed a cooperation agreement, KTM has also invested 30 million euros in the Italian brand.  Timur Sardarov has now given some insights in an interview.

Cooperation between KTM and MV Agusta

In the USA, Canada and Mexico, there will be a joint distribution of KTM and MV Agusta in the future.

MV Agusta and Pierer Mobility have agreed on a strategic cooperation.  As part of this strategic partnership, KTM AG, a Pierer Mobility company, will support MV Agusta in the supply chain and take over purchasing.” (Excerpt from press release)

“Together we will build a network that will consist of either multi-brand dealers or stand-alone dealers, depending on the country, but it will definitely mean better dealers overall,” Sardarov explained. “I hope that some of our existing dealers will stay with us, because many of them have invested a lot in MV, for which I am very grateful, and I will make sure that they continue to be part of our family. But some other dealers just haven’t performed, so we’re going to let them go.”

KTM owns 25.1 percent of MV Agusta

In addition to the cooperation, KTM has invested 30 million euros in MV Agusta, which means KTM now holds 25.1 percent.  Two high-ranking KTM managers are said to have been appointed to the board of MV Agusta.

Even though this means that some of the responsibility will be taken over by KTM, Timur Sandarov does not intend to sell MV Agusta completely.

“MV Agusta needs to be run by a single entrepreneur and not by a manager that [Stefan Pierer] would have to install to run the company for him – he’s much too busy to do it himself, even if he personally would be very capable of doing it.”
