MV Agusta Superveloce 1000 Ago: A tribute to a racing legend

To mark the 83rd birthday of Giacomo Agostini, one of the most important figures in motorcycle racing, MV Agusta has unveiled a special edition model: the Superveloce 1000 Ago. Only 83 units will be built, each priced at €83,000 (around US$89,300). In Germany, the price is €80,700 (around US$86,800). The presentation took place on June 16, 2025, the birthday of the 15-time world champion.

Technical basis: Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro

The MV Agusta Superveloce 1000 Ago is technically based on the Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro. The four-cylinder in-line engine delivers 208 hp (153 kW) at 13,000 rpm and a torque of 116 Nm at 11,000 rpm. The machine reaches a top speed of over 300 km/h. The engine is based on the well-known 998 cc Mill unit, which is also used in other MV models such as the Rush 1000 and the Brutale naked bikes.

Design meets tradition

With its red and silver paintwork and yellow start number plates, the Superveloce 1000 Ago’s appearance is reminiscent of Agostini’s historic racing machines. The fully faired bodywork is made of carbon fiber and features aerodynamic winglets. The striking rear features a four-pipe exhaust system under the seat – a design reference to the earlier MV Agusta F4.

Exclusive details and features

One highlight is the numbered plaque made of real gold on the steering head. Each tank is personally signed by Giacomo Agostini. The seat cushion is covered with genuine leather and Alcantara. The ignition key is made of red anodized aluminum and features a brass coin made from one of his victory trophies.

In addition, each buyer receives a custom-made leather suit from Dainese and a special AGV Pista GP RR carbon helmet. The bike is delivered in a collector’s box including a certificate of authenticity and a kit box with an optional passenger package, covers, and garage cover.

Top-level chassis and electronics

The chassis is from Öhlins and consists of a 43 mm NIX USD fork and a TTX shock absorber – both electronically adjustable. The single-sided swing arm is made of aluminum. The wire spoke wheels from Kineo (tubeless) are fitted with 120/70 ZR17 tires at the front and 200/55 ZR17 tires at the rear. The total weight is 209 kg (461 lbs, dry).

Extensive electronic features are on board: 5.5-inch TFT display, traction control, wheelie control, launch control, cruise control, GPS connection via the MV Ride app, and Mobisat anti-theft protection with an annual subscription. Braking is provided by Brembo Stylema four-piston calipers and 320 mm brake discs, supported by cornering ABS.

Reorientation at MV Agusta

The Superveloce 1000 Ago is the first new model since MV Agusta was taken over by Art of Mobility S.A. after KTM’s parent company Pierer Mobility AG sold its majority stake. A new engine platform is planned for the future, which will be unveiled at EICMA 2025.

Conclusion

With the Superveloce 1000 Ago, MV Agusta pays impressive homage to Giacomo Agostini. The exclusive features, high-quality technology, and historic design make this model a collector’s item for fans and connoisseurs.
