- Total sales FY26: 1,238,659 motorcycles, up 23 percent
- Indian domestic market: 1,107,343 units, also up 23 percent
- Capacity expansion to 2 million units per year planned
Royal Enfield closed the 2025/26 fiscal year with a new all-time record. In the twelve months ending March 31, 2026, the manufacturer, part of the Eicher Motors group, sold a total of 1,238,659 motorcycles. This represents a 23 percent increase over the previous year, when 1,009,900 units were sold. Royal Enfield thus exceeded the one million motorcycles per year mark for the second consecutive year.

Domestic Market as Growth Engine
The Indian home market accounted for by far the largest share of the record result. Sales there rose to 1,107,343 units, representing a 23 percent increase over the 902,757 motorcycles sold in the 2024/25 fiscal year. In March 2026 alone, 100,406 motorcycles were sold in India, a 14 percent increase compared to the same month the previous year with 88,050 units.
Royal Enfield holds an approximately 94 percent share in the Indian market segment between 250 and 350 cubic centimeters, according to the company. Models like the Classic 350 and the Bullet 350 form the backbone of the business. The Meteor 350 also surpassed the 600,000 units sold mark since its introduction during the past fiscal year.
Exports Grow Strongly, March Weakens
Royal Enfield also made significant gains internationally. Export figures rose 23 percent year-on-year to 131,316 units, up from 107,143 motorcycles the previous year. The manufacturer says it is now present in more than 80 countries, with the Asia-Pacific region recording 8 percent growth.
However, the final month of the fiscal year showed a divergent trend in exports. In March 2026, overseas sales fell 8 percent to 11,928 units, after 12,971 motorcycles had been exported in March 2025. Whether this represents a temporary fluctuation or the beginning of a normalization after the strong prior-year figures remains to be seen. In the 2024/25 fiscal year, exports had already grown by 37 percent, with the Asia-Pacific region growing by as much as 13 percent.
Overall, sales in March 2026 totaled 112,334 units, an 11 percent increase over the 101,021 motorcycles sold in the same month the previous year.
Capacity Expansion to 2 Million Units
To keep pace with rising demand, Royal Enfield has announced a major expansion of its production facility in Cheyyar in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The planned investment amounts to 958 crore rupees, equivalent to approximately 102 million euros or about 113 million US dollars. The expansion is intended to increase annual production capacity from the current 1.46 million to 2 million units. The additional capacity is expected to enable production of upcoming models, including the electric Flying Flea range, without restricting production of existing motorcycles.
CEO Govindarajan: “Raising the Bar Higher Every Year”
B. Govindarajan, Managing Director of Eicher Motors and CEO of Royal Enfield, put the result in perspective: “Every year at Royal Enfield, we try to raise the bar a little higher than before, and this time was no different. We delivered our second consecutive year of over one million motorcycle sales, crossing 1.2 million units, our highest-ever annual performance.”
Manoj Gajarlawar, responsible for Asia-Pacific markets, emphasized the importance of regional expansion. He noted that Royal Enfield is now present in more than 14 markets in the APAC region, with the local riding community growing continuously through more than 55 official communities and over 15,000 active riders at brand-led events.
125 Years of Royal Enfield: Anniversary with New Models
The 2025/26 fiscal year coincided with the brand’s 125th anniversary. At EICMA 2025 in Milan, Royal Enfield presented several new models to mark the occasion. These included the Classic 650 in a 125th Anniversary Special Edition, the Bullet 650 as a new model on the 650 platform, the Himalayan Mana Black Edition, and the Flying Flea S6 concept vehicle.
In India, the revised Guerrilla 450 was also introduced in a new Apex variant. The Flying Flea C6 is set to launch worldwide in the coming months as the brand’s first electric model. Additionally, Royal Enfield is apparently planning to enter the premium segment above the 650 class. Reports suggest that a Himalayan 750 and a Continental GT 750 on a new platform are to follow, primarily targeting the North American and European markets.
In addition to the product offensive, Royal Enfield secured first place in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study 2025 and achieved top marks in dealer satisfaction. The Flying Flea C6 was also awarded the Red Dot Design Award 2025.
Competitive Landscape Gets Tighter
Despite the strong numbers, Royal Enfield faces growing competition, particularly in the premium segment. Collaborations such as those between Bajaj and Triumph or Hero and Harley-Davidson are bringing increasingly serious competitors to the mid-range segment. While Royal Enfield still holds the leading position in the 650 segment, the Indian two-wheeler market as a whole, which stood at around 20.7 million units sold in 2025, is attracting more players. Industry observers expect annual market growth of 6 to 8 percent through 2030, with a clear trend toward higher-end motorcycles.
