Suzuki GSX-8S and GSX-S1000 Special Edition: Just 50 Units Each

Suzuki Germany is marking its 50th anniversary with two limited-run naked bikes. The GSX-8S Special Edition and the GSX-S1000 Special Edition each come in a run of 50 units, both with retro graphics and a package of genuine accessories.
  • Just 50 units per model, technically unchanged from the standard versions
  • Manufacturer prices: 9,890 euros (approx. 11,470 US dollars) and 14,290 euros (approx. 16,580 US dollars)
  • 83 hp (61 kW) from 776 cc in the GSX-8S, 152 hp (112 kW) from 999 cc in the GSX-S1000

On 4 September 2026, the German sales subsidiary of the Suzuki Motor Corporation presented two special models. The occasion is Suzuki’s 50th anniversary in Germany. Both machines come from the naked bike range, and both remain technically untouched. The difference from the standard versions lies in the graphics and in the accessories fitted at the factory. According to media reports, both special models are finished in blue and white, a colour combination that has accompanied Suzuki for decades.

What is in the Suzuki GSX-8S Special Edition?

The GSX-8S Special Edition gets a retro-style graphics kit, a pillion seat cover and a belly pan. The belly pan is a fairing section beneath the engine, while the seat cover visually replaces the passenger seat. This makes the middleweight look more distinctive at first glance than the standard version, without anything changing in the way it rides.

The engine remains the familiar parallel twin with 776 cc. It produces 83 hp (61 kW) and delivers 78 Nm (57.5 lb-ft). Peak power arrives at 8,500 rpm, maximum torque at 6,800 rpm. The character comes from the 270-degree crankshaft, which gives the twin a running feel similar to a V-engine. The so-called Cross Balancer, a twin-axis balancer shaft system, keeps vibration in check. The GSX-8S weighs 202 kilograms (445 lbs) fully fuelled, and the seat height is 810 millimetres. Suzuki also offers the model in a restricted version for riders holding an A2 licence.

A bi-directional quickshifter, three riding modes, a three-stage and switchable traction control system, ride-by-wire, Low RPM Assist and Easy Start are all fitted as standard. There is also a 5-inch colour TFT display. Low RPM Assist automatically raises engine speed slightly when pulling away so that the engine does not stall.

What does the GSX-S1000 Special Edition get?

The GSX-S1000 Special Edition also receives the graphics kit and a pillion seat cover, plus a windscreen and rim tape on the front and rear wheels. According to media reports, this rim decoration is finished in red.

Beneath the bodywork sits an inline four-cylinder with 999 cc and 152 hp (112 kW) peak output. The engine is based structurally on the GSX-R1000 unit but was retuned by Suzuki for road use. At the front, two 310 mm discs are gripped by radially mounted four-piston Brembo calipers. The chassis consists of a fully adjustable 43 mm KYB upside-down fork and a rear shock whose spring preload can be set in seven steps and whose rebound damping is infinitely adjustable. Here too, three riding modes, traction control, ride-by-wire and a bi-directional quickshifter are part of the standard equipment. According to media reports, the GSX-S1000 weighs 214 kilograms (472 lbs) ready to ride.

What do the two special models cost?

Suzuki quotes a recommended retail price of 9,890 euros (approx. 11,470 US dollars) for the GSX-8S Special Edition and 14,290 euros (approx. 16,580 US dollars) for the GSX-S1000 Special Edition. Media reports also mention prices of 10,479 euros (approx. 12,160 US dollars) and 14,879 euros (approx. 17,260 US dollars), which explicitly include delivery charges. The difference of 589 euros in each case suggests that this is the same basis with and without additional costs.

A comparison with the standard model is possible for the GSX-8S. For the 2026 model year it is listed at 8,990 euros (approx. 10,430 US dollars), in each case ex works and without additional costs. That means the Special Edition costs 900 euros more. In return, the graphics kit, seat cover and belly pan are already fitted. Suzuki has not yet given any details on the sales launch or ordering deadlines.

Why is Suzuki celebrating an anniversary in 2026?

The German sales company was founded and entered in the commercial register in 1976, so the anniversary falls in the current year. In the same year, Suzuki showed the GS 400 and GS 750 models at the IFMA international bicycle and motorcycle show in Cologne. Both were the first Suzuki motorcycles with four-stroke engines. During the oil price crisis of the time, they were regarded as more economical than the widespread two-strokes.

From the mid-1980s onwards, the GSX-R range shaped the brand’s image. Introduced in Germany in 1985, the GSX-R 750 set the benchmark in the supersport segment with its aluminium frame, low weight and 749 cc inline four. In 1999 came the GSX1300R Hayabusa, the first production motorcycle to exceed 300 km/h. In 2003, the automobile, motorcycle and marine divisions were brought together at the Bensheim site, initially under the name Suzuki International Europe GmbH and later as Suzuki Deutschland GmbH. The commercial high point came in 2002, when Suzuki topped the German registration statistics with 29,437 new registrations.

How do the special models fit into the 2026 model year?

The two Special Editions are not an isolated case but part of an entire anniversary programme. For the 2026 season, Suzuki has brought back the GSX-R1000R as a 40th Anniversary Edition, offered at 19,990 euros (approx. 23,190 US dollars) ex works and producing 195 hp and 110 Nm (81.1 lb-ft). The SV-7GX crossover and the e-Address electric scooter join the line-up as well.

The difference in approach is striking. The GSX-R1000R is a technical revival, while the two naked bikes are purely equipment and graphics variants on a familiar base. For Suzuki Germany, this is a way of making the anniversary visible without major development work. For buyers it means they get familiar technology, packaged in a run of 50 units. How quickly that number sells out remains to be seen.
