Since its return, the GSX-R1000R has been the sporting flagship of the Suzuki range. In the anniversary year of the model line, the manufacturer is now adding a very small series that looks markedly different from the previous colour options. The Stealth does without the strong blue, red and yellow tones of the anniversary model and instead goes for an all-black appearance. Technically everything stays as it was; what has changed is the paintwork and the equipment.

What makes the Suzuki GSX-R1000R Stealth special?

The Stealth is a special series of the GSX-R1000R limited to ten units, with an all-black paint finish and additional parts. Each example carries the Stealth logo on the tank together with a sequential number from one to ten.

The paintwork combines gloss black and matt black surfaces. Because both finishes use the same colour, the contrast comes purely from the level of gloss. Fairing panels, air intakes and add-on parts therefore stand out from one another through reflections rather than through different colours. This is rounded off by details tuned to the same shade.

Suzuki did not take the name and the colour scheme from the motorcycle world. According to the manufacturer, the inspiration is the Stealth Line, a range of outboard engines that is likewise finished entirely in black. The special series thus links two parts of the company that otherwise have little to do with each other: motorcycle production and the marine division.

Which parts belong to the special equipment?

The package includes an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, a tinted screen, a pillion seat cover and winglets made of carbon. These parts are fitted at the factory and cannot be deselected individually.

The Akrapovic titanium system is the component with the greatest influence on weight. Titanium weighs less than steel and withstands high temperatures, which is why the material is widespread in racing. The tinted screen matches the dark bodywork, while the pillion seat cover closes off the rear of the seat and changes the line of the tail.

The carbon winglets are worth a closer look. The Italian documents list them as part of the Stealth package. For the 40th Anniversary Edition, however, Suzuki had already named the carbon winglets as standard equipment, intended to improve stability at high speed through additional downforce. Whether this is the same component or a different version is not clear from the manufacturer information on the Stealth.

What is under the black bodywork technically?

Technically the Stealth corresponds to the standard GSX-R1000R. Power comes from the liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder with 999.8 cubic centimetres, producing 195 hp (143 kW) at 13,200 revolutions per minute and 110 Nm (approximately 81 lb-ft) at 11,000 revolutions.

The engine works with two overhead camshafts and variable valve timing that Suzuki calls SR-VVT. The abbreviation stands for Suzuki Racing Variable Valve Timing. The system adjusts the timing according to engine speed and comes from racing. The throttle is connected electronically, so there is no longer any mechanical link between the grip and the throttle bodies. The control unit can therefore tune throttle response, riding modes, traction control and launch control together.

The electronics package comprises multi-stage adjustable traction control, launch control for starting from a standstill, a quickshifter that works in both directions without the clutch, and several riding modes. For the chassis, the aluminium twin-spar frame remains, along with high-quality suspension components and a Brembo brake system.

The basis for all this is the current GSX-R1000R of the 2026 model year, which was introduced with a revised engine, aerodynamics derived from racing and the S.I.R.S. electronics package. In Germany, Suzuki quotes a recommended retail price of 19,990 euros (approximately 23,190 US dollars) ex works for this model, with delivery announced for the summer of 2026.

The Stealth joins a line of small special editions with which Suzuki has repeatedly supplemented the GSX-R1000R. In 2020 there was the Legend Edition with seven paint schemes recalling the brand world champions. Back then, too, the series was sold through the Italian online shop, was initially announced for Italy only and already included an Akrapovic silencer as well as a pillion seat cover.

The pattern is repeating itself: a small production run, direct sales online, accessories fitted at the factory. What is new with the Stealth is the link to another product world within the group. Instead of referencing racers or anniversaries, this time the series ties in with the design of the boat engines. For the current model year, in which the GSX-R line celebrates its 40th anniversary, that is an unusual variation.
