The XSR900 is part of Yamaha’s Sport Heritage range. In this model family, the manufacturer combines current technology with design cues from its own company history. Yamaha calls the XSR900 the heart of the range. It is meant not only to recall earlier machines but also to show where the brand is heading in the future. On 13 October 2026, Yamaha presented the 2027 version. The only new thing is the look. This puts the XSR900 among the new arrivals for the 2027 model year where Yamaha only works on the paint. The same applies to the faired XSR900 GP, which also received a new livery one day later.

What is new on the 2027 Yamaha XSR900?
The only change on the 2027 XSR900 is the Neon White colour. Technically, the motorcycle stays at the level of the previous year.
Neon White pairs a silver frame with a white base colour. Added to this are pink accents and blue details, which Yamaha places on the tank and the side panels. According to the manufacturer, the aim is a design that clearly stands out from other motorcycles. Riders who prefer a more understated XSR900 can still choose the familiar Midnight Black. No other colours are offered for 2027.
Which Yamaha model inspired Neon White?
The new livery is modelled on the pink Yamaha YZF 750R from the mid-1990s. The supersport model was built from 1993 to 1998.
Yamaha sees the colour as a tribute to a machine that is said to have influenced a whole generation of riders at the time. One element links both eras in a particularly visible way: the aluminium Deltabox frame. Yamaha developed this frame design for its racing machines in the 1980s. On the XSR900 in Neon White it is finished in silver, which makes it stand out against the white bodywork. According to Yamaha, this model combines retro elements with the brand’s familiar build quality.

What technology does the 2027 Yamaha XSR900 use?
The 2027 XSR900 continues to use the CP3 triple with 890 cc displacement. It produces 119 hp (87.5 kW) at 10,000 rpm and delivers 93 Nm (68.6 lb-ft) at 7,000 rpm.
CP3 is Yamaha’s name for its liquid-cooled inline three-cylinder engine. The XSR900 shares its platform and engine with the YZF-R9, the middleweight supersport bike. The other key figures also stay the same. The tank holds 14 litres and the seat height is 810 mm. Ready to ride, i.e. with all fluids, the XSR900 weighs 193 kg (425.5 lbs) according to the manufacturer.
Electronics and equipment
Despite its retro look, the XSR900 is equipped with modern features. Information is shown on a 5-inch TFT display, and the lighting is full LED. The suspension comes from KYB and is fully adjustable. Riding modes allow the engine character to be adjusted. A quickshifter enables gear changes without using the clutch.
For rider aids, Yamaha relies on cornering ABS, lean-sensitive traction control and wheelie control. Slide Control intervenes when the rear wheel slides sideways while leaned over. Engine brake management prevents the rear wheel from hopping under hard downshifts. There is also cruise control and automatic indicator cancelling.
When will the 2027 Yamaha XSR900 arrive and how much will it cost?
The 2027 XSR900 is due to be available from March 2027. Yamaha has not yet published a price.
In the UK, the 2027 model is already listed on Yamaha’s website, but without a price. The 2026 model, which was offered there from 11,104 pounds (around 13,160 euros / 14,810 US dollars), serves as a guide. Whether Yamaha will raise the price for the new model year remains open. No details are available yet for the German market.

XSR900 GP 2027: Legend Blue as a tribute to Christian Sarron
The half-faired sister model XSR900 GP also gets a new colour for 2027. The Legend Blue livery recalls Frenchman Christian Sarron, one of Yamaha’s best-known racers of the 1980s. Sarron became 250cc world champion in 1984. In total he contested 148 Grand Prix races in the 250, 350 and 500cc classes, and he rode his final season in the 500cc class in 1990. Today he works as a sports commentator.
The design is based on the Sonauto Yamaha with which Sarron won his title. A strong blue forms the base. Light blue speed blocks, the typical Yamaha block pattern, run across the tank and side fairing and are framed by yellow stripes. Yellow number boards at the front and on the seat cowl complete the Grand Prix look. Legend Yellow remains in the range, a yellow livery with black speed blocks and a white front number board.
Technically, nothing changes on the XSR900 GP either; it continues with the CP3 triple. Yamaha announces the 2027 model year of the GP as strictly limited. The bikes are due at dealers from June 2027, three months after the XSR900. According to Yamaha, delivery dates and prices vary by region, with exact details available from local dealers.
The idea of racing colours is not new for the GP. The model came onto the market in spring 2024 and visually references racing machines such as the Yamaha YZR500. The launch colour was called Legend Red and combined white, red and yellow. For 2026, an edition in Legend Yellow followed, recalling Kenny Roberts.
