As reported back in September 2020, Aprilia is working on a leaning multiwheeler in the style of the Yamaha Niken. Now more patent drawings have surfaced showing some progress.
In the drawings, you can see changes. They are now going for a leaner suspension layout, dropping the original double wishbones. The parallelogram-like tilt geometry is retained, with a scissor-like linkage helping to support the trike.
Additionally, there are drawings of another design, there a ball joint is used at the top of the strut, while there is a single steering linkage at the bottom of the strut.
It is not yet clear if or when the Leaning Multiwheeler will be launched. An official announcement has not been made yet. Even though the patent drawings have only just been published, they already date from 2019. If the patent has been further developed accordingly, a Leaning Multiwheeler from Aprilia could theoretically soon be launched on the market.
