- New Metallic Flat Spark Black / Metallic Spark Black colour for the ZX-10R
- Technology carried over from 2026 with winglets and up to 206 hp
- ZX-10RR limited to 500 units worldwide
Around a year ago, the future of the Ninja ZX-10R was still uncertain. When Kawasaki presented its Ninja models for 2026 in autumn 2025, the superbike was initially missing. Speculation quickly arose about a possible end for the model, which has been part of the line-up since 2004. A few weeks later, however, the revised 2026 version arrived with large winglets and a new front end. For 2027, Kawasaki is sticking with this specification. The ZX-10R and ZX-10RR are set to be back in dealerships for the new season. The model family has so far earned Kawasaki seven titles in the World Superbike Championship and thus remains the flagship of the 2027 supersport range.

What changes on the Kawasaki ZX-10R for 2027?
For 2027, only the colour options change on the ZX-10R; the technology remains at 2026 level. New is the Metallic Flat Spark Black / Metallic Spark Black combination. It replaces the previous Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Grey, Metallic Spark Black and Lime Green scheme. The Lime Green / Blue 24 livery remains available. As before, the ZX-10RR is offered only in Lime Green. According to Kawasaki, colours and models may vary by country.
Winglets and chassis: the technology from 2026
The ZX-10R already took its big technical step with the 2026 model year. Since then it has had a new front end with compact hybrid headlights, an offset ram-air intake and large winglets on the fairing. According to Kawasaki, these wings generate significantly more downforce at high speed, meaning a force that presses the motorcycle down onto the tarmac. This is intended to give the rider better front-end feel in corners. Kawasaki tuned the chassis geometry to match this aerodynamic package.
At the front is a BFF (Balance Free Front Fork) upside-down fork with 43 mm stanchions. At the rear sits a BFRC-lite (Balance Free Rear Cushion) shock with a remote reservoir. Both components were developed in the World Superbike Championship and are set up for the racetrack. They are designed to ease weight transfer between the front and rear wheels and make the handling light. Up front, two Brembo M50 monobloc calipers bite on 330 mm discs, paired with a radial master cylinder.
How much horsepower does the Kawasaki ZX-10R 2027 have?
According to the manufacturer, the 998 cc inline four produces 196 hp (144 kW) at 13,000 rpm. With the ram-air effect, output rises to 206 hp (151.2 kW). Peak torque is 110 Nm (81 lb-ft) at 11,400 rpm. The ZX-10R weighs 209 kg (461 lbs) ready to ride. The tank holds 17 litres and the seat height is 825 mm. These figures come from the manufacturer’s 2026 specifications. Kawasaki has not announced any technical changes for 2027.

What electronics does the Ninja ZX-10R have?
Both models feature an extensive package of rider aids. It works with a Bosch IMU, a sensor that measures the motorcycle’s lean angle and acceleration. The equipment includes:
- KCMF cornering management
- S-KTRC traction control
- KLCM launch control
- KIBS supersport ABS
- KQS quickshifter for up- and downshifts
- KEBC engine brake control
- Power modes
- Cruise control
The motorcycle can be connected to a smartphone via the Rideology The App Motorcycle app. This gives access to vehicle data and a riding log, lets riders change settings and use turn-by-turn navigation. Voice control is also available, although its availability and the licence required depend on the country.
What sets the ZX-10RR apart from the ZX-10R?
The ZX-10RR is a single-seater for the racetrack and is limited to 500 units worldwide. The engine uses Pankl titanium connecting rods and lighter pistons. The fork stanchions have a titanium coating, and the shock has a different setup. Braided steel lines are also fitted to the front brake.

How much does the Kawasaki ZX-10R 2027 cost?
Kawasaki has not yet announced prices for Germany. In the UK, the ZX-10R is due to arrive at dealers from December priced at £15,999 (approx. €18,885 / $21,160). That is the same UK price as for the 2026 model year. The ZX-10RR will follow later at £24,799 (approx. €29,275 / $32,795).
