Marc Márquez forced to miss the end of the 2025 season: injury prevents further starts

Marc Márquez will not be able to participate in the last two races of the 2025 MotoGP season. As confirmed by a medical examination at the Ruber International Hospital in Madrid, the Spaniard’s recovery from a coracoid fracture and ligament injury is progressing normally, but he will still be unable to compete this year.

Medical assessment and outlook

After conducting a further examination, the attending physicians Raúl Barco, Samuel Antuña, and Ignacio Roger concluded that Márquez’s arm must remain completely immobilized for another four weeks. Only then can rehabilitation begin. This rules out participation in the Portuguese Grand Prix, the Valencian Community Grand Prix, and the test day at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo (Cheste) on November 18, 2025. The doctors emphasize that the clinical development of the injuries is progressing positively. Nevertheless, a return to the racetrack this year is no longer possible.

Reaction from Ducati Corse

Luigi Dall’Igna, General Manager of Ducati Corse, commented on the situation: “Since we learned of the diagnosis, it has been clear to us that the chances of Marc starting in Valencia for the race and the test are very slim. It’s a shame, because it would have been very important for us to have him on the track. Nevertheless, there is no question that a full recovery is the absolute priority. We fully support the decision and are convinced that it is best for everyone involved not to take any further risks. We wish Marc a speedy recovery and hope to welcome him back soon.”

Statement from Marc Márquez

Márquez himself also commented on the situation: “After thoroughly analyzing the entire situation, we have come to the conclusion that it is most sensible and consistent to respect the biological healing time of the injury. This means that I will not be able to race or participate in testing this season. We have a tough winter ahead of us, with a lot of work to be done to get my muscles back to 100 percent and ready for 2026. However, this should not overshadow the great success we have achieved this year: we have once again become world champions and will soon celebrate this together. Many thanks to all the fans for their kind messages, as well as to Ducati and all the sponsors for their support and understanding.”

Who will replace Marc Márquez in the final races?

Ducati Corse will announce in the coming weeks which rider will compete in the final two Grands Prix of 2025 as a replacement for Marc Márquez.
