- Only 100 units worldwide, to be built in 2027
- Paint in dark red, cream and gold, brown leather seat with Deus embroidery and a dedicated satin jacket with every motorcycle
- Technology unchanged, price and allocation to markets still open
Alongside the Himalayan 750 and the Continental GT 750, Royal Enfield also brought a motorcycle for collectors and enthusiasts to Milan. The Shotgun 650 Son of a Gun was created together with Deus Ex Machina and is part of the brand’s custom programme, which Royal Enfield runs under the name Custom World. It all started with a one-off that is much further removed from the production model than the later limited series. After the editions with Icon and Rough Crafts, the Shotgun 650 Deus is already the third special series of the bobber limited to 100 units. For buyers in Germany, the most important question remains unanswered for now: Royal Enfield has not yet said how many units will come to Europe.

What is the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 Son of a Gun?
The Son of a Gun is a special edition of the Shotgun 650 that Royal Enfield designed together with Deus Ex Machina. Exactly 100 motorcycles are to be built worldwide in 2027.
The name plays on the name of the base model. The template was a one-off custom build that Royal Enfield displayed at the show alongside it. It carries the marking “1 of 1”. The fuel cap bears the Deus Ex Machina lettering and a note that Jeremy Tagand built the motorcycle.
For Royal Enfield, the collaboration is a contribution to the custom culture around its own models. B. Govindarajan, Managing Director of Eicher Motors and CEO of Royal Enfield, said: “the Shotgun 650 ‘Son of a Gun’ collaboration with Deus Ex Machina celebrates the creative possibilities of custom motorcycling”.
How does the series differ from the one-off?
The one-off is built far more radically than the 100 production motorcycles. The series mainly adopts colours, lettering and a few details, but keeps the shape of the regular Shotgun 650.
The first thing that stands out on the custom build is the rear end. It is shortened and very slim, the rear wheel is exposed, and the brown leather seat only has room for the rider. At the front there is a flat handlebar and a small headlight cowl. Added to this are large alloy wheels and a long metal exhaust system that runs from the engine far to the rear.
Little of this slim build remains on the production version. It has a larger rear fender, a seat with room for a passenger and the familiar bodywork of the Shotgun 650. The production machine is therefore more a specially styled Shotgun 650 in the style of the custom build than a replica of it.

What equipment does the Shotgun 650 Deus get?
The Shotgun 650 Deus stands out from the production model mainly through its paint, seat and finishes. It also comes with a jacket that is only available together with this motorcycle.
The base colour is a deep dark red, with cream and gold as accents. The tank carries flowing lettering of both brands, and the side panels have additional graphics. The engine covers are finished in piano black. The alloy rims feature contrast machining, meaning polished areas that stand out from the paint.
For the seat, Royal Enfield uses brown leather with a subtly embroidered Deus logo. The handlebar grips come in the same brown.
Each of the 100 motorcycles comes with a limited-edition jacket bearing the names of both brands. It is made of satin with a stonewashed effect, so it looks slightly washed out. The lettering is designed in a traditional style, and the inner lining picks up the paintwork of the motorcycle.
Does anything change in the technology of the Son of a Gun?
According to everything known so far, no. Royal Enfield has not published any separate technical data for the special series; all the changes mentioned concern paint, graphics and finishes.
The Son of a Gun is therefore powered by the familiar 648 cc parallel twin that Royal Enfield also uses in other 650 models such as the Interceptor, the Continental GT and the Super Meteor. According to the information available so far, chassis and brakes also remain at the level of the production model.

What is known about the price and sale of the Son of a Gun?
Very little so far. Royal Enfield has named neither a price nor the booking process, and the allocation of the 100 motorcycles to the individual markets is also open.
The earlier limited series of the Shotgun 650 give a clue. The edition with US outfitter Icon Motosports also came in 100 units in February 2025. Royal Enfield split them into 25 units each across four regions and sold them in an online drop on 12 February 2025, for which buyers had to register in advance. A dedicated jacket was included there as well. The Rough Crafts edition of 2026 followed the same pattern with 100 numbered motorcycles. Royal Enfield has not yet said whether the Deus edition will be sold the same way.
Which other custom bikes did Royal Enfield show at EICMA 2026?
Besides the Son of a Gun, two builds based on the Classic 650 were on the stand: the VITA and the Animus One. Both go much further than the Shotgun special series.
The VITA comes from the Japanese workshop Custom Works Zon and was already on display at the 33rd Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show 2025. Two 650 twins work together in it. Added to this are a custom rigid steel frame, a vintage-style girder fork and 26-inch wheels. The mix of mahogany wood and unpainted aluminium is striking.
The Animus One by Nineteen Works takes only the engine from the Classic 650. Frame, fork and a sprung seat in the style of a tractor seat are custom-made. A long streamlined tail extends far beyond the rear axle. Gears are changed with a hand shifter that has the clutch lever built into it. A production version or road approval is not planned for the Animus One.
Among the EICMA new models for the 2027 model year, the Son of a Gun is therefore the only one of these custom projects that will actually be available to buy.
