Strong, black and strictly limited, Triumph has presented the two special models Rocket 3 R and Rocket 3 GT Triple Black. Both strictly limited special models are dominated by a friendly black. Only 1,000 of each will be offered for sale.
Paint it black
The Rocket 3 is finished in a combination of matte and gloss paint. Black logos are applied to the tank and the new “Black” branding can also be found there.
The Rocket 3 GT Triple Black has a paint job in three different shades. It is meant to further support the easygoing and comfortable look.
Both models are equipped with a carbon fender at the front. Pretty much all parts have been kept in black. Fender mounts, headlight surrounds, fly-screen mounts, radiator cowls and emblem have been painted. Fork dip tubes, triple clamps, risers and handlebar clamps, rider footpegs, brake and shift levers, heel guards, pillion footpegs and their mounts, the forged rear frame, bellcranks, rear suspension, swingarm guards, side stand, and brake and clutch levers were anodized black.
The engine was also blacked out, and the exhaust manifolds, heat shields and end caps were painted. The intake manifold was powder coated in black.
Large displacement, lots of torque
The two special models are powered by the well-known 2,500cc Triple engine. It is the largest series engine for motorcycles. It delivers a whopping 221 Nm at 4,000 rpm and 167 PS at 6,000 rpm.
Equipment
The Rocket 3 comes standard with cornering ABS, traction control, hill start assist, cruise control, keyless ignition, keyless steering lock and USB charging port. The assistance systems are controlled by a sophisticated inertial measurement unit (IMU) that records the motorcycle’s roll, pitch, yaw and acceleration values. The data is used to calculate the lean angle in order to optimize the brake and traction control accordingly.
The full-color TFT display is adjustable in inclination. Two different themes are stored for the display, which can also be personalized. The software for the My Triumph Connectivity System is pre-installed. However, the optional Bluetooth module is required to unlock the functions.
Once the system is unlocked, it can be used to control a GoPro, access phone functions, or display arrow navigation on the screen.
Four different driving modes are available, one of which is freely configurable. The mode can also be changed while driving via an illuminated handlebar switch. LED technology is used for the lighting all around.
Triumph also offers a wide range of original accessories, including a quickshifter incl. blipper function, heated grips (already standard on the Rocket 3 GT), tire pressure monitoring system, but also interchangeable seats, tracking, alarm and luggage systems.
