With the 800MT-ES, CFMOTO adds another model to the mid-range adventure touring segment, which has become one of the most fiercely contested classes in recent years. The new variant is based on the established 800MT Explore platform and supplements it with an electronically controlled suspension, enhanced safety electronics and a very comprehensive standard equipment package. This positions the 800MT-ES as the premium version within the 800MT family, designed equally for long touring stages and mixed terrain on tarmac and light gravel tracks.

What sets the 800MT-ES apart from the 800MT Explore?
The key difference lies in the suspension: while the existing 800MT models rely on conventionally adjustable components, the 800MT-ES receives an electronically controlled system that adapts damping automatically. This is complemented by enhanced rider assistance electronics and equipment features that are often only available as extras in this class. Technically, the ES variant shares its foundations with the 800MT Explore, including the powertrain and chassis, but significantly raises the bar in terms of comfort and technology.
According to industry reports, the frame remains the familiar chromoly steel trellis design with the engine as a stressed member. It is complemented by a dual-sided aluminium swingarm and a factory-fitted steering damper intended to enhance stability at higher speeds.
How does the electronic suspension of the 800MT-ES work?
The electronic suspension, referred to by CFMOTO as the Intelligent Suspension System (ISS), automatically controls rebound and compression damping and adapts ride behaviour in real time to road conditions, riding style, speed and load. Unlike manually adjustable systems, this eliminates the need for tool-based readjustment. According to the manufacturer, three damping characteristics are available – Comfort, Standard and Sport – supplemented by load modes for solo riding, riding with luggage and two-up operation.
The official announcement does not reveal which supplier is behind the electronic suspension. If the components come from KYB (Kayaba), this would fit the picture, as the Japanese suspension specialist already supplies the rest of the 800MT range. Suspension travel is 160 millimetres at the front and 150 millimetres at the rear, with a 41-millimetre upside-down fork up front. This setup points to a clear comfort and touring orientation with moderate off-road capability.
For braking, CFMOTO uses components from J.Juan. At the front, two 320-millimetre discs with radially mounted four-piston callipers are fitted, while a 260-millimetre disc handles the rear. The system is complemented by Bosch cornering ABS and traction control.

What engine does the CFMOTO 800MT-ES use?
The 800MT-ES uses the familiar liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine with 799 cc displacement, a DOHC cylinder head and Bosch EFI fuel injection. According to the manufacturer, it produces 91 hp (67 kW) at 9,250 rpm and delivers maximum torque of 75 Nm (approximately 55 lb-ft) at 8,000 rpm. Power is transmitted through a 6-speed gearbox with a bi-directional quickshifter that enables clutchless gear changes in both directions.
For newcomers and A2 licence holders, the engine is also available in a restricted version. In this configuration, power output is reduced to 48 hp (35 kW) at 5,000 rpm, with torque of 68 Nm (approximately 50 lb-ft). The engine is the same base unit used across the entire 800MT family.
Rider assistance systems and riding modes in detail
At the heart of the electronics is the Bosch Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) with a 6-axis IMU that continuously monitors vehicle movements, lean angle, acceleration and braking forces. Based on this data, cornering ABS, traction control, drag torque control and wheelie control work together to provide greater stability in varying grip conditions.
Via the 8-inch TFT display with MMI control concept, four riding modes can be selected: Sport, Rain, Off-road and All-terrain. Depending on the mode, power delivery, ABS characteristics, traction control and suspension tuning are adjusted accordingly. While Sport mode offers a direct throttle response, Rain mode is designed for smoother power delivery. The Off-road and All-terrain modes are intended for loose surfaces and varying road conditions. The standard electronics also include a Radar Detection System (RDS).

What standard equipment does the 800MT-ES offer?
The 800MT-ES comes with an unusually comprehensive standard equipment package for its class. In addition to the electronic suspension and Bosch safety electronics, this includes cruise control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, heated seat and grips, a height-adjustable windscreen and full LED lighting.
Connectivity is provided by a T-BOX for smartphone pairing, supplemented by USB ports and a 12-volt socket. For the wheels, CFMOTO opts for aluminium spoke wheels with Michelin Anakee tubeless tyres, 110/80 R19 at the front and 150/70 R17 at the rear. The manufacturer quotes a wet weight of 231 kg (509 lbs), a seat height of 825 millimetres and a 19.2-litre fuel tank. These figures underscore the design as a touring-capable motorcycle with balanced ergonomics.
How much does the CFMOTO 800MT-ES cost and when is it available?
The CFMOTO 800MT-ES is priced at EUR 10,999 (approximately USD 12,100) in Germany, while the recommended retail price in Austria is EUR 11,999 (approximately USD 13,200) including NoVA. According to the manufacturer, the market launch will take place in mid-June 2026 through authorised CFMOTO dealers.
Two colour options are available: Glacier White and Neptune Blue. CFMOTO notes that the data provided is preliminary and non-binding, and remains subject to final certification.

Positioning within the CFMOTO model range
With the 800MT-ES, CFMOTO continues to expand its 800MT range, which now covers various orientations from more off-road-focused versions to the comfort-oriented ES variant. The move fits into the 2026 model year, in which the brand has noticeably expanded its adventure touring offering. In parallel, CFMOTO had already introduced the 1000MT-X as a larger flagship model positioned above the 800 class.
The pricing strategy remains characteristic: an electronically controlled suspension is not yet widespread in the 800 cc displacement class and is often found only at higher price points. CFMOTO offers this technology in the 800MT-ES at a comparatively low entry price, which should make the brand even more competitive in the mid-range segment.
