MotoGP at EICMA for the First Time: 35 Race Bikes from 70 Years

The announcement came from the race track itself. On the sidelines of the Grand Prix of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera, MotoGP and EICMA presented their first joint project at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. A good three months earlier, the two sides had gone public with the partnership at Mugello. That collaboration is now producing an exhibition that is new in this form for the Milan show.

What is Legends of Speed at EICMA 2026?

Legends of Speed is a special exhibition that will be on show from 5 to 8 November 2026 across more than 1,400 square metres in Hall 22 of Fiera Milano Rho. More than 35 motorcycles from over 70 years of premier-class history will be on display.

According to the organisers, this is the first time in EICMA’s history that such a comprehensive retrospective on the top class of the motorcycle world championship has taken place within the show. The two-wheeler fair is therefore no longer just a stage for new production models, but also for racing machines that could long since have been in a museum. The project was developed by EICMA together with MotoGP. Also involved is the motorcycling world federation FIM, which, according to the press release, is contributing to the curation of the championship’s historical and sporting heritage.

Which motorcycles will be shown in Hall 22?

The tour begins with the AJS Porcupine 500 and ends with the current MotoGP machines. In between are models from MV Agusta, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Ducati and Moto Guzzi.

First up is the AJS Porcupine 500, on which Leslie Graham won the first 500cc world title in 1949. Next come the three- and four-cylinder MV Agusta 500s ridden by Giacomo Agostini and Phil Read. From Japan come the Yamahas that shaped the premier class, up to the machine of Valentino Rossi, who won nine world titles. Added to that are the Honda NSR and the Suzukis of Kevin Schwantz and Franco Uncini. More recent times are represented by Ducati models. A special case is the Moto Guzzi 500 with its eight-cylinder engine, a technical extreme from the early days of racing. Rounding things off are the factory machines of the five manufacturers competing in MotoGP in the 2026 season.

How is the exhibition laid out?

The exhibition is designed as a walk-through that places the evolution of the technology alongside the evolution of the riders. It is complemented by archive material as well as audiovisual and interactive content.

The organisers speak of a design with strong visual impact. Alongside the machines themselves, images and materials from the archive are to be shown. According to the organisers, the exhibition is aimed at long-standing fans as well as younger audiences who know the early eras of the championship only from stories.

What do MotoGP and EICMA say about the project?

Both sides stress that the exhibition is meant to connect the championship’s history and its present. The quotes come from the joint press release of 11 September 2026.

Carlos Ezpeleta, Deputy CEO of MotoGP Group, talks about how the partnership with EICMA brings MotoGP closer to the fans and makes the sport tellable away from the race tracks as well. On the exhibition itself he says: “Legends of Speed celebrates an extraordinary history, but above all it creates a bridge between MotoGP’s heritage and its present, defined by technology, entertainment and constant evolution.” He also points out that EICMA, as a global platform for the two-wheeler sector, should help reach new and younger target groups.

Paolo Magri, Managing Director of EICMA, and Pietro Meda, President of EICMA S.p.A., place the step in its timeline: “Al Mugello abbiamo annunciato una visione, a Misano iniziamo a mostrarne concretamente i risultati.” Translated: “At Mugello we announced a vision, at Misano we are beginning to show its results in concrete terms.” In their view, the exhibition brings together what belongs to the same world anyway: competition, technology, product and passion.

MotoGP Gaming Arena and activities for visitors

The exhibition is only one part of what MotoGP is bringing to Milan in November. Also planned are activity areas and meeting points across the fairgrounds, digital content and a range of offerings for the public. These include the MotoGP Gaming Arena, a dedicated gaming zone aimed primarily at younger visitors.

During the show days, visitors will also be able to take part in activities offering the chance to win exclusive experiences around the two Italian MotoGP races of the 2027 season at Mugello and Misano. This creates a direct link between the Milan show and the race tracks. Further programme details are to be announced in the coming weeks.

What does this mean for EICMA 2026?

For the show, Legends of Speed is the first visible building block of a partnership running under the name EICMA.SHIFT UP. The road to it is described by the organisers as Road to EICMA and began at Mugello.

EICMA is traditionally the date on which manufacturers present their new models for the coming model year. With the MotoGP exhibition, the 2026 show gains a second focus that is not about production motorcycles but about racing history. How strongly this part shapes the overall picture of the show will only become clear in November, once the remaining activities of the partnership have been confirmed.
