- 819 cc three-cylinder with 85 kW, top speed of 220 km/h
- 218 kg without luggage, 235 kg with aluminium panniers and top case
- Price is said to be around 6,100 euros, with sales starting in 2027
At EICMA 2025, ZXMoto showed a concept called the 820 ADV. It stood on the stand in a sand colour with luggage fitted, and even then it looked more like a finished motorcycle than a study. Type approval for the production version, now called the 820X, has since been granted. The paperwork provides solid figures for the first time, and it shows that more has happened between the show bike and the production model than a change of colour.

What has changed compared with the EICMA concept?
The main change is at the front. Instead of the stacked headlights of the show bike, the production version has two light units side by side, with a noticeably wider screen above them.
There is also a revised tank, a different front mudguard and new hand guards. A more substantial aluminium sump guard sits under the engine, which suggests more confidence off road. The frame, subframe, suspension components and brakes, on the other hand, appear to have been carried over unchanged from the show bike. Some coverage therefore sees only cosmetic adjustments, while other reports describe a motorcycle that has hardly anything in common with the concept. Both readings can be justified from the images, because the changes affect almost exclusively the visible bodywork while the basic construction stays the same.

What technical data does the type approval list?
The documents list a three-cylinder engine with 819 cc and 85 kW, which equals 116 hp. According to the figures, that gives the 820X a top speed of 220 km/h.
It is the same inline three-cylinder that works in the 820RR supersport machine, although in a far sharper state of tune there. For the adventure bike it has been softened and set up more for mid-range pull. The concept was quoted at 117 hp at 11,000 rpm and 85 Nm (63 lb-ft) at 9,000 rpm, together with a capacity of 818.8 cc. Output therefore stays practically the same between concept and production model, and the small differences in capacity are likely down to figures being rounded differently.
For the concept, ZXMoto quoted a steel frame with an aluminium swingarm, plus a compression ratio of 13:1, Bosch fuel injection and a ride-by-wire throttle that is additionally backed up by cables. Three-cylinder engines are rare in China because they are more expensive to build than singles or twins.
Wheels, tyres and wheelbase
The type approval lists a 19-inch front wheel with a 120/70 R19 tyre and a 17-inch rear wheel with 170/60 R17. This combination is typical of adventure bikes that are ridden mainly on the road and only occasionally turn onto gravel.
The wheelbase stands out: the approval papers state 1,575 mm, whereas 1,532 mm had previously been quoted for the concept. The production version has therefore become noticeably longer and now sits at the level of the Honda Africa Twin. The seat height of the concept was given as 831 mm; a confirmed figure for the production model is not yet available.
How heavy is the ZXMoto 820X?
In its simplest approved specification, the 820X weighs 218 kg (481 lbs). That configuration already includes crash bars and auxiliary lights.
With the aluminium panniers and the top case, the weight rises to 235 kg (518 lbs), while all other data remain unaffected. The machine has been homologated both with and without the luggage system, so both variants are approved from the factory. Whether the 218 kg refers to a dry or a ready-to-ride motorcycle is not clear from the figures published so far. A dry weight in the same order of magnitude had been quoted for the concept.
What electronics are expected on board?
So far the electronics details are confirmed only for the concept. There, the package included adaptive cruise control, electronically adjustable suspension, an automated clutch and cameras front and rear.
There are also reports of radar-assisted adaptive cruise control, a TFT display, tyre pressure monitoring and a quickshifter. The free area between the headlights of the production version is seen as a pointer to the radar module. Whether traction control and cornering ABS are also fitted has not been documented so far and is merely assumed. A quickshifter allows gear changes without the clutch and without rolling off the throttle.

What will the ZXMoto 820X cost?
A price of around 6,100 euros (approximately 7,070 US dollars) is being quoted from China. That figure has not been officially confirmed.
It also refers to the home market and includes neither import duties nor the taxes levied on vehicles in Europe. The amount equals roughly 5,200 pounds, but is likely to rise considerably by the time the bike reaches Europe. There is no European price list so far.
When will the ZXMoto 820X reach the market?
Sales are expected to start in 2027. Before that, the 820X is due to be shown at the CIMA show in China, with the worldwide premiere planned for EICMA in Milan in November 2026.
That places the 820X in the 2027 model year, in which several Chinese manufacturers are pushing into the middleweight and large adventure classes. In the United Kingdom, the ZXMoto range so far comprises the 500F naked bike, the MX250 off-road machine and the 500RR and 820RR sports models. The brand has also announced a market entry in Australia with the 500RR and 820RR. An adventure bike would close a gap in both markets.
From racing into the adventure class
The three-cylinder engine of the 820X comes from a motorcycle that has made ZXMoto known in a short space of time. With the 820RR, a Chinese motorcycle won races in an international championship of the motorcycling world governing body FIM for the first time. At only its second outing, the two races in Portugal, it took a one-two finish in the Supersport World Championship, and four further wins followed during the 2026 season. On that count, ZXMoto has more wins than any other brand in the current season.
Behind the company stands Zhang Xue, co-founder of the off-road brand Kove, which has won several stages of the Dakar Rally this year. He left Kove at the end of February 2024 and founded ZXMoto the following year. Zhang Xue comes from engine development and previously worked as a contract developer for other manufacturers. Alongside the sports models, ZXMoto already offers an off-road machine in the MX250, but an adventure bike had been missing until now.
