- Around 30,000 visitors and approximately 10,000 motorcycles over three days
- Temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius in the shade, closing parade canceled
- Charity in support of the Sternenbrücke children’s hospice
For three days, the Hamburger Großmarkt was all about V-twins, rock music, and the communal spirit of the Harley scene. The Hamburg Harley Days 2026 took place for the 21st time and are considered Europe’s largest Harley-Davidson city event. However, the dominant theme of the weekend was the weather: an unusual heat wave shaped the entire event and led to the short-notice cancellation of the traditional closing parade. The rally thus joins a 2026 summer event season in which several major Hamburg events were hampered by the heat.

How many visitors attended the Hamburg Harley Days 2026?
Around 30,000 visitors and approximately 10,000 motorcycles came to the grounds over the three days. This was below the usual level, as the rally typically attracts around 60,000 guests in normal years.
The main reason for the lower turnout was the exceptional weather. Nevertheless, the central Harley Village filled up every day, especially in the evening hours. As temperatures dropped, thousands of guests stayed on the grounds late into the night, enjoying the atmosphere among historic and modern motorcycles, food stands, the dealer mile, and live music. All in all, it was an atmospheric weekend shaped primarily by the weather.
Why was the Sunday parade canceled?
The approximately 30-kilometer closing parade on Sunday was canceled due to extreme heat. It was the only schedule change over the entire weekend.
Germany’s national weather service had issued a heat warning for Hamburg with temperatures of up to 38 degrees Celsius, while on the grounds the thermometer climbed to up to 40 degrees in the shade. The parade traditionally runs as a convoy over the Köhlbrandbrücke, through HafenCity, along the harbor, and down the Reeperbahn. Under these conditions, holding it would have been irresponsible, as not only riders with hot engines and under their helmets but also other road users along the route would have been affected.
Event organizer Jascha Bergmann of bergmanngruppe put the decision into context: “Of course we would have loved to ride through Hamburg together with thousands of motorcycles. Given the extreme temperatures, canceling the parade was the only responsible decision. We are all the more pleased that our guests supported this decision and that we were able to enjoy a peaceful and unforgettable weekend together.” The extent of the heat pressure is illustrated beyond the event itself: on the same weekend, Hamburg’s half marathon with around 24,000 registered runners was also canceled.

How did the organizers protect guests from the heat?
Organizers and authorities prepared for the weather conditions in advance and set up extensive heat protection measures. This allowed the event to run safely on all three days.
Precautions included additional drinking water stations, designated shaded areas, free water distribution, and a pool for cooling off. Guests were also asked to ensure adequate sun protection, drink regularly, and look out for one another. The additional stations and shaded areas were heavily used throughout all three days.
What did the program offer despite the parade cancellation?
Apart from the parade, the entire program continued as planned. The dealer mile, test rides, shows, and live music shaped all three days.
Musical highlights included performances by BACK:n:BLACK – The Girls Who Play AC/DC on Friday, as well as Ray Wilson and Band, the former singer of Genesis, on Saturday. Numerous other bands on the Main Stage and the Village Stage also provided festival atmosphere. Those who wanted to ride could test current models such as the Pan America 1250 Special or the Street Glide at the free demo rides, provided they had a valid motorcycle license. The test rides were among the most popular program features.

Custom bike show and new Sister’s Corner
The craftsmanship highlight was the custom bike show on Saturday. Due to the heat, however, only around 20 motorcycles competed in various categories, significantly fewer than usual.
The small but fine selection impressed both the expert jury and the audience with creative builds, craftsmanship perfection, and great attention to detail. Typically, the jury evaluates machines in seven categories from Best Sportster to Best of Show, with total prize money of 2,000 euros (approximately 2,280 US dollars), including 500 euros (approximately 570 US dollars) for the overall winner and 250 euros (approximately 285 US dollars) each for category winners. The new Sister’s Corner, which offered women in the motorcycle scene their own meeting point, also received great response. Together with motorcycle tour guide Jea Rocks, known from “Goodbye Deutschland,” the area quickly became a popular spot for exchange, fashion, and shared experiences.
Which celebrities and guests of honor attended?
In addition to scene celebrities, several well-known faces from film and television also came to the grounds. They underscored the event’s character as a meeting point far beyond the pure biker community.
Guests of honor included actors Till Demtrøder, Jan Sosniok, and Bianca Karsten, as well as cult barker Fabian Zahrt and Kiez personality Eddy Kante. The event thus combined its motorcycle focus with the typical Hamburg local color between harbor and Reeperbahn.

Stunt shows, tattoo area, and donations for Sternenbrücke
Away from the stages, other program features drew crowds. Particularly popular were the daily stunt shows, the approximately 500-square-meter tattoo area, and the social engagement initiatives.
World record holder DOP provided thrills with daily stunt shows. In the tattoo area with nearly 40 booths, body art was created on-site throughout the weekend. Once again, the event also made a statement for social engagement: as part of a charity campaign benefiting the Sternenbrücke children’s hospice, numerous visitors donated and in return were treated to a special view over the entire event grounds. In closing, the organizers expressed their thanks to visitors, emergency services, authorities, partners, sponsors, and volunteers for their cooperation during the exceptional weather conditions.
