Ducati unveiled the new Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour in Borgo Panigale on 1 October 2026. The model is aimed at riders who cover long distances and don’t want to start by browsing the accessories catalogue first. Much of what costs extra on the Multistrada V4 S comes fitted from the factory here. The Grand Tour is not an all-new motorcycle, but a particularly well-equipped version of the familiar V4 S. With it, Ducati adds a pure touring model to its line-up of new bikes for the 2027 model year.

What is the Ducati Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour?

The Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour is the touring version of the Multistrada V4 S, with a full set of long-distance equipment fitted at the factory. Ducati describes it as a motorcycle designed for long trips from the very first kilometre.

This is not the first time the Multistrada has carried the Grand Tour name. According to Ducati, the concept has accompanied the model range since the first generation. The term goes back to the classic educational journey through Europe that Johann Wolfgang von Goethe described in his work “Italian Journey”. The new edition is based on the current Multistrada V4 generation and adopts its technology.

What standard equipment does the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour have?

Standard equipment includes a radar system, two side cases with a combined 60 litres of capacity, a centre stand, and heated grips plus heated seats for rider and passenger. Additional lights and a tyre pressure monitoring system complete the package.

The front and rear radar controls three assistance systems. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) automatically keeps a set distance to the vehicle ahead. Blind Spot Detection (BSD) warns of vehicles in the blind spot. Forward Collision Warning (FCW) sounds the alarm when things get tight up front. Ducati sees this above all as a gain in safety and comfort on long stages.

Additional LED headlights, dynamic indicators and a rear fog light improve visibility. Some of these lighting functions are only available in countries where they are approved, however. A full-LED headlight with daytime running light and cornering light is also on board. The tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) shows the pressures directly on the display.

The side cases are made from technical plastic and finished in the bike’s paint scheme. The centre stand is meant to make fitting, removing and loading the cases easier and safer. A keyless fuel cap helps when refuelling: the key can stay in your pocket.

How does the Multistrada’s automatic lowering work?

The Automatic Lowering Device lowers the motorcycle by up to 30 millimetres as soon as the speed drops below 10 km/h. From 50 km/h, the Multistrada returns to its normal ride height.

This is mainly intended to help when manoeuvring and at traffic lights, because the rider’s feet reach the ground more easily. Shorter riders in particular should benefit. A second function is called Easy Lift. It opens the suspension hydraulics when the ignition is switched on, so less effort is needed to lift the bike off its side stand.

How much horsepower does the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour have?

The 1,158 cc V4 Granturismo produces 170 hp (125 kW) at 10,750 rpm. Maximum torque is 123.8 Nm (91.3 lb-ft) at 9,000 rpm, and the engine meets the Euro 5+ emissions standard.

New is an extended cylinder deactivation system. Previously, the engine only shut down the rear cylinder bank when stationary. Now this also happens in certain riding situations. Fuel consumption and emissions are said to drop by up to 6 per cent compared with the previous generation. According to Ducati, the engine’s character and performance remain unchanged.

One special feature is the counter-rotating crankshaft. It works against the gyroscopic forces of the wheels. Ducati describes the result as smooth power delivery at low revs, strong torque in the mid-range and plenty of power at the top end.

Suspension, brakes and electronics of the Grand Tour

The Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour runs on Marzocchi’s semi-active Ducati Skyhook Suspension EVO. Suspension travel is 170 millimetres at the front and 180 millimetres at the rear.

Semi-active means the electronics continuously adjust the damping while riding. To do this, the suspension constantly exchanges data with the so-called inertial platform, a sensor package that measures the bike’s position and movement. A new sensor in the fork and a predictive logic called Bump Detection identify irregularities in the road surface, and the suspension reacts to them in real time. The Auto-Levelling function detects the load and keeps the motorcycle at the same height, whether riding solo or with luggage and a passenger. A button on the left handlebar switch lets the rider change the set-up on the move.

The heart of the electronics is the Ducati Vehicle Observer (DVO). Using numerous virtual sensors, the system calculates the forces acting on the motorcycle. This is meant to make cornering ABS and wheelie control work more precisely. The electronic combined braking system distributes braking force between front and rear wheel depending on the riding situation and load. Engine braking can be adjusted in three levels. Under emergency braking, the Ducati Brake Light EVO also activates the indicators to warn following riders.

Braking is handled by twin 330 mm discs at the front and a single 280 mm disc at the rear. Tyre sizes are 120/70-19 at the front and 170/60-17 at the rear. Thanks to smartphone mirroring, the 6.5-inch TFT display becomes a full-colour navigation system with map view. Ducati Connect also allows phone and music control.

How long is the warranty on the Multistrada V4?

In Europe, Ducati offers a four-year warranty with unlimited mileage through its 4EVER Ducati programme. All Multistrada V4 models also come with a roadside assistance programme.

Roadside Assistance covers breakdown assistance, transport of rider and passenger, a replacement vehicle and, if needed, an overnight stay in a four-star hotel. This applies for as long as the warranty runs. Ducati also relies on long intervals to keep maintenance costs down: valve clearances only need checking every 60,000 kilometres. According to the manufacturer, there are more than 800 Ducati dealers in over 90 countries worldwide.

How can you recognise the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour?

The Grand Tour is available exclusively in its own livery with red accents and a Grand Tour logo. The frame, swingarm, triple clamps, handlebar, handlebar risers and cases are finished in black.

The rims carry the “Grand Tour” lettering, and the rider and passenger seats feature their own decorative stitching. Anyone wanting to personalise the bike further can do so at the time of ordering through the Ducati Factory Made programme. Options include coloured brake calipers, higher or lower seats and suspension, as well as carbon parts. This is meant to make retrofitting from the accessories trade unnecessary.

When is the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour coming and how much does it cost?

The Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour will be available at European Ducati dealers from November 2026. It arrives in the USA in December 2026 and in Asia and Australia in April 2027.

In the Netherlands, the Grand Tour starts at 33,990 euros (around 38,150 US dollars). An official price for Germany had not yet been announced at the time of the presentation.
