Ducati is bringing back the Streetfighter V4 SP as a numbered limited series and equipping the naked bike with technology from the track. The new flagship costs €36,990 in Germany and arrives at dealers from March 2027.
  • 214 hp, dry clutch, carbon wheels and electronic Öhlins suspension
  • 500 numbered units in the Winter Test livery
  • Price in Germany €36,990, market launch in March 2027

To mark the brand’s 100th birthday, Ducati unveiled no fewer than three SP models at EICMA 2026 in Milan. The presentation took place on Monday evening, one day before the show officially opened. Alongside the Panigale V4 SP and the Panigale V2 SP, the Streetfighter V4 SP was also on stage. It is the new flagship of the naked bike range and one of the new arrivals for the 2027 model year. It is based on the 2025-generation Streetfighter V4. Ducati is building 500 units. Each one carries its own number, laser-engraved into the handlebar. At Ducati, the SP abbreviation stands for Sport Production.

What sets the Streetfighter V4 SP apart from the V4 S?

The Streetfighter V4 SP gets a dry clutch, carbon wheels and a lighter chain. The engine and the electronic Öhlins suspension, on the other hand, are carried over from the Streetfighter V4 S.

On top of that come machined footpegs, a different brake master cylinder, machined levers and a dedicated livery. Ducati also supplies a kit of parts for use on closed circuits. The frame and swingarm remain unchanged: like the current Streetfighter V4, the SP uses an aluminium front frame and a double-sided hollow swingarm that Ducati calls the Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm.

Carbon wheels for easier changes of direction

The carbon wheels have five split spokes and measure 3.50 x 17 inches at the front and 6.00 x 17 inches at the rear. Compared with the forged aluminium wheels of the V4 S, they save a combined 950 grams of unsprung mass. These are the parts not supported by the springs, mainly the wheels and brakes. The less they weigh, the better the wheel follows the road surface. The moment of inertia also drops, by 12 percent at the front and 19 percent at the rear. This means the wheels put up less resistance to rotational movement. Ducati expects quicker changes of direction and more precise turn-in as a result.

On the first Streetfighter V4 SP of 2022, the weight advantage of the carbon wheels over the V4 S of the time was 1.4 kg (approx. 3.1 lbs).

Dry clutch instead of an oil-bath clutch

The most important technical feature of all SP models is the STM EVO-SBK dry clutch. It uses nine plates and is machined from solid. Unlike the oil-bath clutch of the V4 S, it does not run in engine oil. Its anti-hopping function is designed to work better during hard downshifts on track. This function prevents the rear wheel from hopping under braking. The bike should also behave more calmly when closing the throttle. The amount of mechanical engine braking can be adjusted using different secondary springs from the Ducati Performance catalogue.

Because the clutch no longer runs in oil, the SP can use Ducati Corse Performance Oil. Shell developed this oil together with Ducati Corse. It is said to increase peak power by up to 3 hp (approx. 2.2 kW). With the supplied open carbon clutch cover, the clutch becomes visible and its typical metallic rattle audible. However, this cover is intended for track use only.

Chain, footpegs and levers

Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a DID ERV7 chain in 520 format, paired with a dedicated front and rear sprocket. This chain is lighter than the solution on the V4 S and is also used by factory teams. Ducati does not say how much weight it saves.

The rider footpegs are machined from aluminium and have carbon heel guards. They can be set in three positions and adapted to the rider’s height and riding style. In the outermost position, they provide more lean-angle clearance. The shift pattern can also be reversed, as is common on track. The brake and clutch levers are machined as well.

How powerful is the engine of the Streetfighter V4 SP?

The V4 of the Streetfighter V4 SP produces 214 hp (157.4 kW) at 13,500 rpm and delivers 120 Nm (approx. 89 lb-ft) at 11,250 rpm. These are the same figures as the Streetfighter V4 S.

The Desmosedici Stradale has a displacement of 1,103 cc, with an 81 mm bore and a 53.5 mm stroke. The compression ratio is 14:1. The cylinders are arranged at 90 degrees, and the crankshaft is counter-rotating. The valves are operated desmodromically, meaning they are also closed mechanically rather than by springs. The six-speed gearbox is paired with the Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 quickshifter, which allows clutchless upshifts and downshifts.

The Streetfighter V4 SP complies with the Euro 5+ emissions standard. Ducati quotes fuel consumption of 7.1 litres per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 165 g/km. The 2027 Panigale V4 SP is slightly more powerful at 218 hp (160.3 kW).

What suspension and brakes does the Streetfighter V4 SP have?

The Streetfighter V4 SP uses the third generation of the electronic Öhlins suspension and Brembo Hypure brake calipers. The main new feature compared with the V4 S is the Brembo MCS master cylinder with remote adjustment.

At the front is an Öhlins NIX30 fork with 43 mm stanchions featuring a titanium nitride coating. At the rear is an Öhlins TTX36 shock, and the steering damper also comes from Öhlins. All three components are controlled by the Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 system, which Ducati calls Ducati Electronic Suspension 3.0 as a complete package. The electronics continuously adapt compression and rebound damping to the riding situation. Ducati promises a wide adjustment range, from comfortable road settings to firm setups for the track. Faster hydraulic valves are designed to respond more precisely. Suspension travel is 125 mm at the front and 130 mm at the rear.

Braking at the front is handled by two semi-floating 330 mm discs. The Brembo Hypure four-piston monobloc calipers are painted in Ducati red. At the rear is a 245 mm disc with a two-piston caliper. The Brembo MCS 19.21 master cylinder offers three settings that change the feel at the brake lever. The rider can also adjust the lever distance on the move using a dial on the left end of the handlebar. This solution comes from racing.

The tyres are supplied by Pirelli: Diablo Supercorsa V4 in 120/70 ZR17 at the front and 200/60 ZR17 at the rear. Seat height is 845 mm and the wheelbase is 1,496 mm. Without fuel, the SP weighs 188 kg (approx. 414 lbs).

Electronics and cockpit of the Streetfighter V4 SP

The rider aids are based on an inertial measurement unit that records movement on six axes, supplemented by the Ducati Vehicle Observer. Traction is managed by DTC traction control, DSC Slide Control for controlled drifts when accelerating out of corners and DWC Wheelie Control. For starts, there is Ducati Power Launch launch control. Under braking, the bike is assisted by Race eCBS with cornering function, a combined braking system, and EBC engine brake control.

Four riding modes are available: Race, Sport, Road and Wet. Dedicated buttons allow the levels to be adjusted quickly. Cruise control, a pit limiter, full LED lighting with daytime running lights and self-cancelling indicators are standard. A lightweight lithium battery serves as the starter battery.

Information is provided by a 6.9-inch TFT display in 8:3 format with a resolution of 1,280 x 480 pixels. The SP is prepared for the Ducati Data Logger, the Ducati Multimedia System, tyre pressure monitoring, turn-by-turn navigation and a USB port.

What is included in the Streetfighter V4 SP track kit?

The bike comes with parts that allow the Streetfighter V4 SP to be quickly converted for the track. They are not permitted on public roads.

  • open carbon clutch cover
  • carbon air ducts for cooling the front brakes
  • cover for the removed licence plate holder
  • machined aluminium covers for the mirror mounts
  • machined aluminium fuel cap

Visually, too, the SP shows its close ties to racing. The Winter Test livery is inspired by the Ducati Corse machines that run in pre-season testing in MotoGP and the Superbike World Championship. The bodywork is matt black, while the winglets and the front and rear mudguards are made of carbon. In contrast, the tank in brushed aluminium stands out and is left unpainted. Red accents, a two-tone seat and the red brake calipers complete the look. The SP is delivered as a single-seater, with a passenger kit available as an accessory.

Which SP versions of the Streetfighter have there been so far?

The new Streetfighter V4 SP is the third top-of-the-range version to carry the SP badge. It started in 2022 with the first Streetfighter V4 SP, followed in 2023 by the Streetfighter V4 SP2.

The first SP went on sale in January 2022 for €32,990 (approx. US$37,000 at today’s exchange rate). It had 208 hp (153 kW), a dry clutch, carbon wheels, Brembo Stylema R brake calipers and the Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension. The SP2 followed in March 2023 for €35,690 (approx. US$40,030 at today’s exchange rate), also in Winter Test colours and as a numbered series. Because of the cost increases since then, the prices of both models can only be compared with today’s prices to a limited extent.

For 2027, Ducati is significantly expanding its SP line-up. In addition to the Streetfighter, there is the Panigale V4 SP for €43,590 (approx. US$48,890) with a racing gearbox, Neutral Lock and new aerodynamics, as well as the Panigale V2 SP, with which Ducati intends to compete in the Supersport World Championship.

How much does the Ducati Streetfighter V4 SP cost and when will it arrive?

The Ducati Streetfighter V4 SP costs €36,990 in Germany (approx. US$41,490). From March 2027, it will be available at Ducati dealers in Europe in the Winter Test livery and as a single-seater.

The Australian market gives an indication of the price gap to the V4 S. There, Ducati charges AU$57,525 ride away for the SP (approx. €35,940 / US$40,320). That is AU$13,200 (approx. €8,250 / US$9,250) more than for the Streetfighter V4 S, which is listed there at AU$44,325 (approx. €27,700 / US$31,060).

The warranty runs for 24 months with unlimited mileage. An oil change is due every 12,000 km or 24 months, and the valve clearance is checked every 24,000 km.
