For many prospective buyers, the KTM 1390 Super Duke GT has so far been a motorcycle you could see but not buy. KTM unveiled the sport tourer at EICMA in November 2024, but the company’s restructuring threw all schedules into disarray. Now the manufacturer has named a date: the GT is finally due to go on sale in early 2027. There is also an EVO variant, which was not mentioned at the first presentation. KTM is refreshing the rest of its 2027 line-up mainly with detail improvements and new colours. The brand is saving the bigger surprise for its press conference at the show in Milan.

Why is the KTM 1390 Super Duke GT only arriving in 2027?
The KTM 1390 Super Duke GT is only arriving in 2027 because KTM had to reorganise production after its insolvency, and the GT moved to the back of the queue. In September 2025, the company presented a new schedule for the delayed large-capacity models.
At the time, KTM announced that several of the models shown at EICMA 2024 would no longer be built as 2025 models but as 2026 models. These included the 990 RC R, the 990 Duke R and the 1390 Super Adventure range. The 1390 Super Duke GT was the only model to slip back by a further year. KTM CEO Gottfried Neumeister justified the delays by saying that every model should be fully mature when it is delivered.
For fans of the sport tourer, this means a long wait. Its predecessor, the 1290 Super Duke GT, has been on the market since 2016. The new generation is based on the 1390 Super Duke R EVO and takes the larger engine and many chassis components from it.
What technology does the KTM 1390 Super Duke GT feature?
The KTM 1390 Super Duke GT combines the 1350 V-twin from the Super Duke R EVO with semi-active suspension, radar cruise control and a large touchscreen cockpit. The following data comes from the initial presentation in 2024; KTM has not yet published any new technical data for the 2027 model year.
Engine and chassis
At its presentation, the LC8 twin with a 75-degree cylinder angle produced 190 hp (140 kW) at 10,000 rpm and 145 Nm (107 lb-ft) at 8,000 rpm. The 1290 predecessor made 175 hp and 141 Nm from 1,301 cc. New features include a technology called Camshift, which varies the valve lift depending on engine speed. KTM electronically limits the GT to 250 km/h. According to the manufacturer, the service interval has doubled to 60,000 kilometres.
The trellis frame is three times as torsionally stiff as on the old GT. The suspension comes from WP and is semi-active, meaning it automatically adapts the damping to the road and load while riding. In addition to an automatic mode, there are Comfort, Street and Sport settings. Ready to ride with a full 19.5-litre tank, the GT weighs 228 kg (503 lbs) according to factory figures. KTM states fuel consumption at 6.1 litres per 100 kilometres.
Cockpit, electronics and touring comfort
The cockpit features an 8.8-inch touchscreen with navigation that also works without a phone connection. For smartphones, there is an SP Connect mount and a USB-C charging socket. A front radar enables adaptive cruise control that adjusts the speed to vehicles ahead. Added to this are a brake assistant and a mode for group riding.
There are four ABS modes to choose from, including two Supermoto variants that allow the rear wheel to be locked deliberately for drifting. Many additional functions are subject to a charge. A demo mode unlocks them for the first 1,500 kilometres, after which the owner decides which packages to purchase permanently.
For long distances, KTM has ergonomically revised the seat. The seat height is 834 mm. The windscreen is height-adjustable as standard, and the handlebar can be rotated forwards or backwards by 22 mm.

What sets the Super Duke GT EVO apart from the standard GT?
The Super Duke GT EVO additionally features KTM’s AMT automated manual transmission, which does without a clutch lever. Otherwise, it takes over the complete equipment of the standard GT.
The AMT works with a conventional manual gearbox that is controlled electronically. The rider can shift gears manually or let the motorcycle change gears fully automatically. KTM already uses the system in the 1390 Super Adventure S EVO.
When the GT was first presented in autumn 2024, AMT was not yet on the agenda. Its absence on the sport tourer in particular was conspicuous at the time, even though the technology was already available within the group. With the EVO variant, KTM is now closing this gap at market launch.
What changes on the 2027 KTM 1390 Super Duke R and R EVO?
For 2027, the 1390 Super Duke R and R EVO receive a revised 8.8-inch touchscreen with faster menu navigation, new handlebar switches and an optimised Brembo braking system. There are also two new colour variants.
For the brakes, KTM is relying on Brembo’s HyPure range. KTM already fitted calipers from this family to the limited-edition 1390 Super Duke RR, which came onto the market in spring 2026. The large touchscreen is also familiar from this top model: the RR was the first Super Duke with the 8.8-inch display. The new handlebar switches are intended to simplify operation on the move. KTM does not list any new technical data on the engine for the R models.
More touring comfort and a new look for the Adventure models
In the Adventure segment, KTM is concentrating on small improvements designed above all to make everyday riding over long distances more pleasant.
The 390 Adventure R gets a new switch unit on the left end of the handlebar. It can be used to activate the optional cruise control. Cruise control has been available as an extra on the small adventure bike for some time. It only works with traction control switched on, cannot be activated in first gear and switches off as soon as a brake, the clutch or the throttle is operated.
Shortly after EICMA, KTM is also adding a revised 390 Adventure X to the range. It gets a TFT display and two new colours. It is expected to be available from December.
The 790 Adventure does not change technically but gets a new colour concept. Instead of the previous orange and white variants, it is available in black for 2027. This is intended to give the model a more understated look.
New colours for the singles from 125 to 390
On the small single-cylinder models, the updates are limited to new colours. This applies to the 390 SMC R supermoto and the 390 Enduro R for off-road use. On the entry-level 125 SMC and 125 Enduro models, the 2027 model year also brings only fresh paint schemes. KTM does not list any technical changes for these four models.
What will KTM show at EICMA 2026?
At EICMA 2026 in Milan, KTM will exhibit a wide selection of its 2027 models and has also announced new off-road technology and a surprise from the off-road segment. These new features will only be revealed at the press conference on 3 November at 10:45 am.
The show runs from 3 to 8 November 2026, and KTM’s stand can be found in Hall 22 under number E08. The manufacturer is not revealing in advance which off-road technology it means. All that is certain is that it was developed specifically for off-road competition.
For KTM, the appearance in Milan is also a signal after the difficult years. The brand was absent from EICMA in 2025; now it is presenting its full line-up again. The KTM new models thus join the big overview of new 2027 motorcycles, which the show is likely to fill further in the coming days. KTM has not yet announced prices for the new models.
