Due to the war in Ukraine, countless people are on the run and are in need of help. The team from exhaust specialist Hattech has come up with a way in which bikers in particular can help the Ukrainians.
The team around owner Hubert Sommer has founded “Bikers for Ukraine”. This project wants to collect something that bikers may even have in multiple versions and fleeing Ukrainians can urgently use: Sleeping bags.
A necessary clothing is in most cases available and / or is already provided by numerous other aid transporters. However, sleeping bags, especially with small pack size as used by bikers on tours, are rare and urgently needed. For this reason, Hattech has created this initiative to collect sleeping bags and bring them to people on the run.
Sleeping bags are urgently needed
Anyone who has spare sleeping bags and would like to support the campaign can bring them to a collection point (location and times below) or send them by post or parcel service. It is requested that only fully functional, freshly washed and dried sleeping bags be donated, as there is simply not enough time to sort or even wash and dry them yet. The sleeping bags are needed as soon as possible, so it would be bad to waste time here unnecessarily. (Besides, there is no possibility to wash hopefully hundreds or thousands of sleeping bags / editor’s note).
We ask you to send sleeping bags that are no longer needed, but also to ask your acquaintances for further copies, in order to be able to send as many as possible to Ukraine. Since sleeping bags also come in different sizes, Hattech has prepared a form to categorize the individual sleeping bags, which again saves time in distribution.
Bikers for Ukraine needs support
The initiative needs not only donations in the form of sleeping bags, but also “manpower” and other support. Therefore, they are trying to mobilize the trade and the media and are also looking for other commercial cooperation partners. Thus one could already win a forwarding business and organize packing material, pallets and a temporary storage.
Apart from that, every helping hand is needed, because the sleeping bags also have to be collected, packed and loaded. Anyone who can and would like to help here can contact the organization at ukraine@hattech.de
